Hi

There seems to be a problem with the Age of Mythology Stats Server and Internet Explorer 7(this might not be the correct place to ask this question, but contacting Microsoft Game Support has not helped at all!). When loggin on, there is an error "Error connecting to stats server. Last saved rating will be used" Age of Empires III has no problems. I have contacted Microsoft Support and all I reveived was a email listing steps I had already gone through and this was mentioned to them. So basically I received no help, and cannot play the game correclty. I am a Windows Vista and Internet Explorer Beta Tester and this problem was also reported, but nothing was done. This is "Age of Empires" forum, not "Age of Mythology". i have no clue what your talking about. Try posting in tech support or email some more i dunno.

Great help these forums are, I post in Tech Support formum, my post gets moved and then I get comments like this!

Try emailing them for their aom suppport, or use their aom forum maybe.

Does anyone know where the AOM forum is? I have searched and cannot find anything, and Microsoft Game Support is useless, everytime I ahve a issue all they ever say is re-install. [Edited on 10/22/2006]

Nice, like many others i have the same problem: "Error connecting to stats server."

IE7 is final for more than a month now and deployed via auto-update. The beta test took a whole year! Because there were no changes in IE the problem must be on ES's side and not the IE7 team. What is the problem with the stats server? Are you guys using some undocumented tcp or udp functions?

As a solution I often read "go back to IE6". This is _not_ an option. It is like saying: don't install the latest security patches to your os if you wanna play our game!

So please give an official solution for this problem.

Hi, I am a Microsoft Beta tester, I was involved int e IE7 and Windows Vista betas. I reported this problem during the beta stages. The response I got was to contact the game developers. But there are no email addresses provided, I posted on this forum, all that happened was my post got moved to Legacy Games. I contacted Microsoft Support, all they say is uninstall IE7. Now as a beta tester I recieved a copy of Windows Vista, Age of Mythology will not log on to the stats server. In Windows Vista, you cannot uninstall IE7, so what do we do? I find the lack of an official statement or acknowledgement that there is a problem the most fustrating part. I have purchased every Ensemble Studios game, including all the expansion packs, but due to the lack of support or caring for loyal customers, I am sorry to say that I will not be purchasing any more. I had a similar issue years ago with Age of Empires and none of my problems were ever solved although they were well documented on many sites, but ignored by ES.

I read your posts, thats why I reactivated your thread. ES should know the problem for a long time. I would not request a solution during beta test because too many things can change (thats the nature of a beta test). But there have been 2 release candidates and now IE is final...

Please any ES representive: confirm the IE7 incompatibilty of AoM (TT) and tell us what you are planning to do. Even if you only forwarded the posts to your programmers!

I'm in a good hope that ES will do something. They created patches for Aoe 1 and 2 when gaming zone support ended. This means they did not completely abandon their "legacy games" (I also bought all of them including Aoe3 and TWC).

I have never seen any new patches for AOE 1 and 2. Where did you see these? [Edited on 12/7/2006]

Ok, I must admit that i do not play these games. But as far as i know ES made it compatible with gamespy. This made me think that there was a patch to realize the move from DirectPlay lobbies to a diffenent network technology. If there really was no work for ES then we will probably never get our AoM issue fixed.

Btw, new buyers (gold ed.) cannot create ESO accounts! I had the idea of making a 1600 account - you are stuck at that rating and can bash around a little. But this produced the well known IE language error! No stats and no new accounts with IE7!

Still awaiting an official statement from ES...

(As a programmer I would also like to know what "hack" caused the compatibility problem [winsock, wininet?]. What will you do when MS Passport is turned off?) [Edited on 12/8/2006]

ES will probably never give an answer..
