There is no technical reason to limit teams to 2 or FFA. We just didn't want to spend valuable testing time on obscure cases like 3 vs 2 vs 1 vs 1, which account for far less than 1% of games played.

If you have really tried everything in the FAQ and forwarded ports correctly and have exceptions in your firewalls, we don't really have any more suggestions for you.

    Hey.

I had the same problem you did a little while ago, I opened all the necessary ports, made sure my firewall was allowing the game to connect properly and upgraded my firmware on my router.

If you need help on how to do these things, post and i'll be glad to tell you.

    Good luck mate.

Subject: "Failed to join" every game since reinstall

I have played AOE3 series games since the release of the first game (1000s of games played online) and have always had light router issues.  I forwarded my ports according to www.portforward.com for my DI-624 DLink router.  That was all I needed to do in the past, and I could connect to roughly 75-80% of games.  Several months ago I uninstalled the games and haven't played since then.

Excited about the new patch, I reinstalled the game this week.  Without changing my router, ISP or any router/firewall/port settings, I now cannot connect to any games, and QS doesn't work either.  I've created the user.cfg file with my real IP address, I've looked for solutions on the DLink website but have still not found anything that works.

I haven't tried it without my router in line, but I have a digital VOIP phone and need to keep it online.

*EDIT*  I just unplugged my router and took the cable internet right into my desktop.  It still took me 3 tries to join one game.  I tried to join another 2v2 game with my clanmates and couldn't connect either.  I used to be able to connect to these guys all the time.

Are there any other options or solutions I can try?

Subject: Re: "Failed to join" every game since reinstall

After I disconnected my router and connected my DSL modem directly, I turned off my Windows fire wall and try to join games again.

Still, 9 out of 10 games I get “Failed to Join Game”.

The problem is even worse when I try to connect to 4 player games where 2 or 3 players already joined the game.

For those I get 1 out of 20 success ratio which is unacceptable.

This happens to me on my brand new Vista PC where I didn’t install anything but games.

My older Windows XP PC have the same problem.

So I called my IP provider to check if they block any ports.

They told me that they do not block any traffic and they could ping my modem with no problems.

So I am back to square 1 with no solution despite all the steps I took.

When I join games successfully others cannot join those games any more so these games can rarely get started.

This problem is affecting everyone online because one person can prevent a game from being launched because nobody else can join it any more.

The fact that many other players such of me have this problem is causing this problem to be a serious issue for the entire Online community.

On average I have to wait 30-45 minutes just to get 1 game going.

If this continues many will leave AOE3 to play other games and ESO will have fewer and fewer players.

Something has to be done about this problem soon.

    Moderators,

Can you please escalate this issue with your upper management?

    Thank you,
