Re: < < Scenario Design - Question Thread > >
Ok now I have a question: How do you make these messages from your units? I know how to make unit speak and put in the sound but I don't know how you put the written message!!

I don't think its play dialog - thats similar but for cinematics. I thought it would be play dialogue because that works if I put a string table link in but not if I write message myself!! Help please!!

Captian Wertze,
I've messed with the play Dialogue a little..I found you cannot put a prefered name at the beginning of the text..(As shown)..Wiith out string table adjustments..You can check this out at H.G.Wiki..(The link is on page one of this thread..Also..The modding thread..In this category..Northern_lord explaines how he does this.
I started using "message" effect..You can see this a lot easier during scenario play.
Regards!

Yes to the first part of your question.. Use spc pop blocks..
Second part..You're stuck with 200 pop limit..Use native warriors and church techs.. You can exceed the pop limit..You can also use Modify protounit effect, pop count to reduce the units pop count.. That should help.

Thank the lord you are wrong. If you make a scenario and place say 300 units for a player to start with he/she would have a pop of 300! When a unit dies, it gives -1 pop (or the pop it takes) so if you have 0 pop and 300 units die, you have -300 pop! I have done this many times so I can verify this as a fact.

Thank the lord for your info Jack The IV..
I believe we had a go around before on this issue? lol.
Alright I'm wrong..( I stand corrected again )..But..Maybe I'm not so wrong.. If you're going to stay with in the guidelines..(Mostly)..To try and minimize game lag.
Yes..You can, just place hundreds upon hundreds of units all over your map..Then when the lag kicks in ( for some guys/gals )..I guess we'll just have to tell them.. Remove hundreds upon hundreds of units?

Edit

Yes to the first part of your question.. Use spc pop blocks..
Second part..If you stay with in the games intentions.. You're pretty much stuck with a 200 pop limit..Use native warriors and church techs.. You can exceed the pop limit..You can also use the Modify protounit effect, (pop count feild) to reduce the units pop count.. That should help.

Edit..
There is another method and I see some merit with it..Provided your video card is powerful enough to support it.. ( Game lag )..That is..To just place your amount of units on the map as illustrated by Jack the IV..If you encounter lag..Just remove units, until the lag is no more!
