Captain Wertze :Ok now I have a question: How do you make these messages from your units? I know how to make unit speak and put in the sound but I don't know how you put the written message!!

I don't think its play dialog - thats similar but for cinematics. I thought it would be play dialogue because that works if I put a string table link in but not if I write message myself!! Help please!!
For this, use the stringable or stringtablex or stringtabley xml, and use the effect : "Dialog player"

This is great info..But He wanted to get his own unit name showing, making the quotes.. When you do this.. You can't get it unless you modify your string table..N_l posted how to do this in the modding thread..(Not good for on-line play)..I've found these hard to see during scenario play anyways..I use the message effect.

Captian Wertze,
I've messed with the play Dialogue a little..I found you cannot put a prefered name at the beginning of the text..(As shown)..Wiith out string table adjustments..You can check this out at H.G.Wiki..(The link is on page one of this thread..Also..The modding thread..In this category..Northern_lord explaines how he does this.
I started using "message" effect..You can see this a lot easier during scenario play.

kjn
Yeah! I knew already you could use the string table but I thought there might be an easier way!! Oh well... I really don't see why ES had to make it so you can't use those messages in your own scenarios - it seemed like a pretty basic but really useful function!!

Thanks for the info, sandstorm!.
LOL!
He should have stated so..Even better.. If he'd post his info in the tips and tricks thread..So guys understand it's for on-line..Would have saved a lot of confusion?
I did not know of this. My appologies to those whom this concerns.

Re: < < Scenario Design - Question Thread > >
@kjn, My internet has been down for a couple of days, so I have not been able to post. I just can't see any reasons why my scenarios don't work... I got TAD for Christmas, so I installed it. When you have installed TAD, I could try to save my scenario as TAD format, and send it to you... (dejavou? did I post this before?) I will not put any TAD stuff in the scenario.

N_l,
If you made your scenario through the warchiefs disc..If you "saved as" in the editor..I should be able to play them..As it is.. I can't..If you want to re-save as and double check things..Maybe send me the new files..We could try that if you want?.My game version I'm using is1.03 - warchiefs..Not sure if this matters or not.

Re: < < Scenario Design - Question Thread > >
Yes. We could try that... Another thing I was thinking of was: I go into my TAD editor, and open the warchief files (age3Xscn) (I mean the two you can't open), and use "Save as" so that they are saved as tad format (age3Yscn), then sometime when you have installed TAD, I could send them to you... The reason why I think of this is this: My warchiefs version is modded, and not compitable with ESO or lan or whatever. Maybe this of some reason has affected the scenarios (though I can't understand why, because I have checked many times, and am almost absolutely sure that I didn't use any modded unit at all in the scenario...) But my TAD version is not modded, and if I save the scenarios with TAD, they would possibly be free for all modded things. But I will try to do as you posted above first.
PS. When will you install TAD? You have the game, right, but just not installed it? PPS. TAD is great! The proto.xml has 1352 kb, and protox.xml has 2041 kb, but TAD + TWC proto, protoy.xml has amazing 4244 kb, which means that ES added twice as much to the game with TAD, than TWC.
