Fergy,
You can use the "set tech status effect" multiple times for your unit..The HC shipments and what ever church techs and building techs that this unit is trained out of..Other than that..There is modding your files?.That could cause you oos..

but, I just want the tech to be for that 1boss unit, not for the entire team.
if I use infantry damage to increase his attack, then all the units on that team have a crazy attack.
is there a way to get a boss with high attack and the rest of the units the same?
2) is there a way to decrease the damage multiplier, like taking a jat lancers bonus against infantry from 4x to 3x?

Use a unit that your civ doesn't have..
You can do that via the unforbid and enable effect..Then find all the techs for that unit and use what I illustrated in my other post..Again.. That's the best I can offer from the the posted info

Fergy,
To answer#2..I don't know of any easy ways..You may be able to imitate it with triggers via the modify proto unit effect..(Some fields do work) and the set tech status effect..Experiment with them..

hey lol last question, then I should be done this scenario
I was using a jaeger for 1 of the units on my fall of russia type map. I had a group of skirms/muskets and brought my jaeger in and started shooting them from the max range that a jaeger can shoot at. the skirms and muskets didn't even come after me or move, they just stood there taking the fire
any way to fix this?

I'm not to sure on this one..You could try to up the los of your musks and skirms?
