Re: 9 of the most commonly asked questions concerning designing maps are answered here
Gemini11,
Thank you for posting in this thread!
First..Make sure you're playing as "player 1" when you playtest.
Second..Do not put an ai start on your map for player1 ( the player you're playing as)
Third..Make sure you set the player you're playing as to human and the others to computer in the "player data panel".
Regards

Re: 9 of the most commonly asked questions concerning designing maps are answered here
Did you play on-line or single player skirmish before this?
If this is for an on-line custom scenerio..It would be best If you refer to the pinned tips and tricks thread by MosheLevi..If this is for a single player scenerio..It is best to playtest your scenerio through the editor..If you play on-line or a sinlge player skirmish..It is best to exit the game then get back in before playing your custom scenerio..The editor is finicky..The ai doesn't load properly and it seems to confuse itself if you do otherwise.

Re: 9 of the most commonly asked questions concerning designing maps are answered here
If your scenerio plays ok through the editor, playtest..Then I would suggest doing it that way..That is the recommended way..Also re-read above post..I added some more info..The only other suggestion I can offer is re-trace your steps in the player data and make sure there is nothing you over looked..Most times it something small and is easily missed..Make sure the ai starts and the T.C.'s you placed are for the correct computer player..Did you click re-set homecity for each computer player in the player data panel? If all this is done..If it plays through the editor playtest..That's all I can offer..It's hard to pin point..I'm not there to know for sure

LOL
You're most welcome..
Glad to have been able to help..
I'm assuming you saved your file in the editor and you used The save as?.
One last thing..In your main screen..Go into single player skirmish..Are you playing as player1 there?
Just a couple of things that came to mind late..

heys kjn, you've always been telling me that a cinematic can ruin a map, and that creating a cinematic shd be made on a seperate map, but most scenario makers have their cinematics on their main map. and how would a cinematic ruin a map?
(also my scenario is up on heaven games for a couple'o'weeks, 21 dls so far, but no rates. cld you rate it for me? that is if u have TAD to try it out...)
Every AOE game you play is like a meal, finish it fast or it'll turn cold.

cheangclone,
Yes.. A cinematic can wreck a good scenario..How?..The most minute error can keep all your other triggers from working..Results are?.Your dead in the water my friend..You need to set everything perfectly..For instance..Turning the cinematic mode on and off and a few other important things have to be done in order to use it in the scenerio..As I posted you before.. The cinematic mode is different than the scenario mode..Your camera positions are usually different..You might be using IGC units or wanting to send chats..So you need to change all that back to scenario play conditions before the scenario launches, via triggers..It is recommended..To keep all your cinematic triggers seperate from the other triggers by putting them in their own group..That is what I meant by keeping them seperate!..My appologies if I wasn't clear enough..I have posted you and others as to what you need to do and use and look out for..In order to make a cinematic and then load the scenario after..
As I posted before also..Cinematics aren't my cup-o-tea..I just don't mess with them..I have found that a good read-me along with the scenario file can be just as effective..Therefore..I have posted to all..The wiki faqs is the best place for info on cinematics..It requires a lot of experimenting..In some cases I have read..It is best to create the cinematic as it's own entity..That is..The cinematic has it's own file along with the scenario file..Then use the custom effect by reyk "load scenario" effect at the end of the process to launch the scenario file..Have you checked out the scenario makers that you mentioned in your post..(Their triggers) to see how they have done it?.I'm pretty sure you'll then see all that I'm refering to..You'll also have a better idea as to how it's done..If you're set on using cinematics and can get it together..It would be most helpful for others who are looking into this, if you would post a step by step in this thread.
That's great news about your scenario..I wish you well on it!.I really can't rate it yet..Sorry..I'm still not using TAD..However..I may be involved in a tad project soon..It looks as though I can't put off the tad installation much longer provided the project happens..Maybe over the holiday season when I have some time off work..I may start the long painful process of post-installation recovery..LOL..You never know?

anyways.. i guess i'll take you advice and not go into cinematics, instead i'll use a readme file.. but.. how do i make a readme? using notepad? or words?

You don't have to take my advise as you posted..I was suggesting that just to offer you another option..As you posted in your original post..A lot of guys are using cinematics in their scenarios..If that is what you really want?.Then my other suggestion was to look into their scenario triggers to see how they did their cinematics..By doing this..You can get a good idea as to how..Get a guide line that actually works..Then infuse your ideas into it and you should achieve what you really want..If that is what you want!

{T_K} KevTheGreat:most people use notepad since not everyone has word, also if u need help with cinematics i am pretty good with it :P
alright.. i guess i could ask you for help since i've seen your cinematics... but then again i'm not sure what cinematic would be good for my scenario. if possible, u could DL my scenario from heavengames and read thru the storyline i've written in the readme... and see if its possible to create a cinematics from that.. TY :D
