too late to change.
let's see......
- a french villiager is actually better than the standard russian infantry unit (strelet). i'm not sure if that's Irony tho.....
haha prolly true...wait for ivan to come
He doesn't visit this thread regularly. But I'd prefer having coureur des bois over strelets any day, particularly because the former gathers resources.
CDB>strelet, its sad
Do you use the word "pretentious" in a pretentious manner? The belief of "pretentious" being pretentious might itself be pretentious, but that would than further go to prove that the word "pretentious" is pretentious.

Re: Ironic Facts about AoE
That's not irony, like most things people have said here. What an embarrasment to humanity, that people still don't understand irony. The reason the last post isn't ironic, is because fish can be acceptable for vegetarians. Vegetarians aren't really that strict, because if they are, they are vegans. However, if the japs were vegans in real life, it still wouldn't have been ironic. It would just have been historically incorrect.
Anyways, I think it's time for a real definition of irony (unlike the short definition people like Hanzo think explains it all)
1. Basic irony: It's the same as sarcasm. If you say something like this, but express it like that, it's irony, or sarcasm.
2. Don't know the name of it, but it may be the type of irony called 'dramatic irony'. if not, let's just call it 'destirony': If a person decides to quit smoking cigarettes to make his life longer and healthier, but then gets killed the next day for some reason, because he didn't go to the store for a pack of cigarettes, it's irony.
There may be other forms of irony too, in that case, just go to dictionary.com and look it up, which I ironically didn't do now, when I made those definitions. Anyways, as you can see, those two types of irony doesn't really have anything to do with each other, and they don't have much to do with most of the posts that have been written here either.
Guess the civ:
This civ doesn't need houses. Still, putting soldiers near their houses make the soldiers better.

I think I already knew that my post didn't fit the definition of Irony.(The whole thread doesn't)
Vegetarians do not eat meat! Is fish not meat? If they are not strict about it, they are not vegetarians! Vegans do not eat animal products(Eggs, milk e.t.c.) There is a big difference!

dramatic irony only exists in stories, its very rare in real life. what dramatic irony actually is is when the reader of a story knows somthing a character in the story doesn't and later find out. For example: in Macbeth three whiches tell macbeth he will be the thane of Cawdor, and Macbeth thinks its not going to happen. its dramatic irony because we already know the king decided to make Macbeth the thane of Cawdor. ps: dramatic irony usually isn't funny.
