Re: AOE3 TWC TAD Quick Reference
(Au)-Ben-:I tested this in TWC, and coyotes were treated as normal cav, eagles were treated as ranged cav, and arrow knights were treated as artillery. This is different in TAD now. I think that they should just change coyotes back to heavy cavalry, eagles to light cavalry, and arrow knights back to artillery. It would make it so much easier in game.
If you are looking for a quick cheat sheet, the worksheet "Unit Classification & Counters" has all this information. Instead of calling them light infantry, I call them abstract infantry. This is the best sheet for the casual gamer. Next to each light infantry unit, I state (ranged cavalry or melee cavalry). However, I just noticed what the confusion is about. The new light infantry units: Bhakti Temple Tiger Claw, Disciple, and Shaolin Temple Rattan Shield do not receive penalty damage versus ranged cavalry (only heavy infantry in melee counters directly).
ERK are treated as light cavalry for purposes of damage towards them. Not because of their "light infantry" classification, but how their counters to damage to them. Notice real light infantry like skirmishers receive a bonus to ranged cavalry and ERK. The same is true for the bonus towards coyotes (ranged cavalry get a bonus to heavy cavalry and a separate line to coyotes). This does not always show up in the UI but does show in the proto file. None of the other light infantry cavalry type units (minor natives) get a penalty versus ranged cavalry (just versus heavy infantry in melee mode).
If you want the game classification as seen in the proto file, the worksheet "Unit Classification" is for you. This has all of this information indirectly. You can filter this information to see all the same units of one type (all light infantry, elephants, heavy cavalry, light cavalry, etc.). The classification of these units did not change in TAD. Very little changed from TWC to TAD. The only thing I can think of offhand is longbows received +2 damage. However, I agree, Aztec units are confusing at best. MNBob's tables are a good quick reference, as well as my spreadsheet for each unit type (i.e. Aztec, British, etc.).
I will add some notes to clarify this in the next update. I plan to update for the next patch and a few other useful comments I received. Thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: The same is true for arrow knights. They are not considered artillery, it is just artillery gets a special line item in the proto file versus this unit.

I would beg to disagree. A qiang pikemen only did the 2.3 times modifier against an ERK, and not the 3 times it would get against cavalry units. I discovered this in a scenario.
I will have a look at this guide. Are you saying that tiger claws and rattan shields do not get countered (I mean the bonuses), by ranged anti cav?
I found that a culverin did not do 160 damage to an arrow knight as it should, rather it did 40 (base damage, no 4x against artillery).
Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Some of them are just stupid.

Lolz, I gone to agecommunity and then seen that of the "Quick Reference Guide" Then I clicked "this post" (it was an hyperlink) and seen this, only thing I can tell you: Wow, exellent job, I really liked all what you did, but theres a problem, your work was a bit confusing and didnt included everything, In this page there is a better guide, your guide is very good, but this one is better, your guide is more for newbies, this one is more simple and its for people who know more for aoe3, anyways thanks.

The guide you are referring too is MNBob guide. He's a clanmember of me and Cyclohexane and his guide has been used to make this guide. If you say this guide is more for noobs I would recommand looking clooser to all the features it has to offer, you will discover that you can do a lot more with this guide.

This reference guide is great, I would recommend it to everyone.
Cyclohexane has done an amazing job.
It may be a good idea to make it sticky.

Interesting.
I'll check it out when I see it. It does indeed seem you've put a lot of effort into this one, after all you probably should get some reward from the ensemble studios.
Great job nonetheless.

So much better than all those "official" guide that has nothing useful and sells for a lump of $$.
Compiling all those infos must have taken days... (weeks?)

Eoj, it sounds like your firewall is preventing you from connecting to ESO. Try putting Age3 on your firewall's allow list.

More for newbies? This Guide includes everything and it is impossible for someone not to learn something from it unless you are mentally retarded. MNBob's guide is great and a very useful tool, but it is completely different and does not begin to cover the amount of information and calculations this Guide does. It is ok with me if you do not read it, but if you are going to post comments about my work, read it first.
The Guide has just been updated with comments from many websites (same link). See the download history for a review of all changes in this version. CLICK HERE FOR VERSION CHANGES
