I usually have a hard time beating anti cavalry cavalry units so whats the best unit to counter anti cavalry ex. Dragoons?

Musketeers generally, because they're cheap enough, have range and are still quite good in melee.

Plus, I don't think there's a unit musks can't counter - they can even beat skirms if you go into melee with them, or outnumber them by only 1.5:1

not if the skirms are microed, you just need 5 skirm shoots to kill ae equally upgraded musk, and even less (3?) with that arsenal upgrade

Warclub works great against Dragoon

I don't understand. How can an unupgraded skirmisher:

HP: 144

Ranged attack: 18

Resists: ranged 0.3

beat a unupgraded dragoon:

HP: 240

Ranged attack: 26

Resists: ranged 0.3

The skirmisher cannot micro effectively because of the superior speed of the dragoon. The dragoon will win, unless by 'counter' you mean outnumber. Anyone?

cost wise the skirms beats dragoon-type units easily

as it has a bonus against it (1.5x, i think) and also a bigger range
