Or if they mismanage their eco, thinking that the gendarmes would do all of the work for them. Otherwise, Heavy Infantry and Light Cavalry are cost effective enough to stop them.

if it were treaty and the hussar-> cuirassier was present, then that would mean that they would get 60 cuirrassiers in their whole army. thats pretty devastating... especially if its on great plains, or pampas. the cuirs would still be instant, and the first wave of cuirs would be even more devastating.

well u have to have a big brain fart if you mismanage your eco in NR. But you may be right about HI and LC can stop them but the problem is, if he can keep the kill to Death Ratio in his favor then your screwed.Cause not many civs can support an on going army like the French can. and once AGAIN(unless your Germans.)

I agree on the Hussar-->Cuirassier card. Even with just 10 Hussars(2000 resources) the card would save the player 1000 Resources on 10 Cuirassiers(3000 resources), thats already an age4 worthy card. The savings would go higher with the number hussars going higher. This would mean that the French auto-win late game vs certain civs in supremacy would be gone and the Gendarme laming in treaty would be better. I say its a win-win situation.

I totally agree. That would be the feat of France on rush games, but they would be drastically nerfed on NR. All the French lamers would try to move to Japan and Spain I guess. Thoroughbreds: Converts all your hussars into Currasiers. Problem solved. from the hand of, murdilator

It was fun when gendarme was 2 pop unit. But French economy was too strong. Gendarme should get new cost 300 wood and nobody spam gendarmes without destroing eco. And its harder to balance your eco if you need to train Li or other gold food units with gendarmes. You just need to destroy french platonations. And france need to stop training one type of units, Li or gendarmes. 2pop and 300 wood is what i guess is good.

i don't think thats very practical to make a unit all wood, i dont even think i can rember a unit that only cost's wood. 2 pop gendarms was definatly horrible for treaty, because players could have 180 pop worth of units that were owning thier counters already. But it seemed to be bad enough in sup to have it changed aswell.

Some people are happy with this card from 1.04. Other say that makes currassiers even worse enemies because of monster economy and almost momental training time.

so if you need to train extra units to stop great French gendarme voltiquer army, you have still time to act before he comes again, even on great planes.

i love eating gendarmes....the faster they come...the faster i eat them....
just build walls everywhere to buy you some time.
definatley a german player, maby ports because they got good walls and drags.
well i think the card should increase train time and cost, but also increase speed. if the horses are thoroughbreds, then wouldn't they be faster? but then it should take a longer time to train them so it makes sense...
