Re: Let us know what you think
1.
- Pre WW / Historical Setting
- Series of technology levels
- Online play
- Pace at which the game plays out
- Also good map + civ variety and diversity
2.
- Community
- Good graphics so it's fun to play
- Good counter system
- Rating system (makes play more competitive)
- Variety of game types (trty, sup,dm,koth etc)
- Ability for you and other people to host custom scenarios and play online
- Clan + Chat functions aetc (would like to see more clan support though)
3.
- When logging in online you got a good homepage - but you rarely update it! There's about 3 bits of news since the game came out and that is it. I'd like to see some reports on the WCG progress, links to tournaments, competitons (lots are being hosted on community sites like /heavengames/clan sites/ but it would be nice to promote some on the aoe homepage)
- Oh and a RANDOM CIV function!!!
- That's it!

- Also just thought of something else - I'd like to see more teams other than 1&2 so you can do say a 2v2v2 game or 1v2v1 or whatever (nor rated of course!)

yes i agree with everything with this poster. i also played the empire earth series. they weren't as good but the thing i liked most about them was the different number of teams. so it was like a world war

Re: Let us know what you think
1. - A good selection of civs. - More than one resource, unlike other games. - The Campaigns
2. - The gameplay, it's way better than other strategy games. - The Campaigns - The selection of maps, and the variety of them.
3. - Some civs have an advantage over all others, like the Japanese in TAD. - And that's about it.
I would say, keep up the good work and make many more Age of Empires games!

Re: Let us know what you think
Most people already point what I want to say, but 1 thing I need to add is:
Do more advertising on the game if there is a new game coming out!!!!!!! I simply hate to wait 2 hours for games just because there are not enough players in the community of a great game. I have been fed up with waiting and Im sure lots of people are as well.

1. Many and unique civs and maps. It's a game you need some thinking to play right. Right number of resources, not many, not few. Resources different from each other 2. Good counter system. Great community. Nice game pace, not too fast, but also not boring. 3. After some inbalances and some problems with routers, none at all.

Re: Let us know what you think
1) The amount of variation between civs, and the fact that the game is so versatile
2) The skill it takes to balance units and counter armies, and the incredible amount of versatility in game strategies from an agra fort rush to a dutch boom
3) The unrealistic factor kind of takes away from the whole experience, especially how you can shoot through walls.
Do you use the word "pretentious" in a pretentious manner? The belief of "pretentious" being pretentious might itself be pretentious, but that would than further go to prove that the word "pretentious" is pretentious.

ES_SOLUS:
What are the signature things that you consider to be an essential part of an Age of Empires game?
A lot of civs each with their own unique units and bonuses.
ES_SOLUS:
What are the things that you like the most about an Age of Empires game?
Fun game.
Love the customizable shipment choices you want for your civ (Age of Empires III)
ES_SOLUS:
What are the things that you dislike the most about an Age of Empires game?
In no particular order are as followed:
1: Cheating,drop tricking,hacking.
2: I hate that Home Cities have levels (Home Cities should have all shipments, politicians, consulate allies,ect... available from start)
3: Lag.
4: Partial imbalance between civs.
5: Computer opponents are not tough enough and sometimes do stupid things (in the expansion packs to Age of Empires III when I check to see what shipments computer has they have 23 or 24 cards in a deck even though they can have 25)
6: You can see players score.
7: In Age of Empires III you can tell if someone has built a trade post to ally with native tribes and or for a trade route and you can tell how many were built all without needing to scout the map.
8: Can see what shipments opponents has.
9: Only 1 armor type for a unit in Age of Empires III
10: 1 account per CD-Key in Age of Empires III (as a result have to share the same online account with rest of family and that sucks big time)
11: Cant have a civil war type game against computer in single player Skirmish game.
12: Cant have custom teams like 2v2v2
13: Some almost totally useless units for a civ (for example the Rajput is almost totally useless for Indian because the Sepoy is superior in almost all ways.Rajput needs to have increased speed and slightly cheaper.)
14: Bad pathfinding for units.
15: Once you explored the map you can see if opponent is killing huntable animals for food without having a unit their.
16: No observer mode.

Re: Let us know what you think
1. What are the signature things that you consider to be an essential part of an Age of Empires game? Real civilizations, Civs that are unique in special bonuses, Starting of with basically nothing, gathering plenty of recources, building up your base, make army, attacking the other teams. Realism!!
2. What are the things that you like the most about an Age of Empires game? Why? Well for one thing, I wouldnt of never bought Age Of Empires 3 if you havent of made the Native American Civs/units. I like the graphics, and the fact that the game is realistic. I'm that kind of person who likes games that are based on realism and good graphics along with that (Gameplay also counts). In Age of Empires 2, you guys made the first game that had the best rts graphics and gameplay. When my friend showed me this game (AOE1+2), I was stunned. I liked the fact that you can build big armys, build up on your own town, attack other teams and all.
3. What are the things that you dislike the most about an Age of Empires game? Why? Probably the only thing that I found disapointing in Age of Empires games back then and now was you got a population cap limit of 200. It kind of seems unrealstic when everything else is made realistic. A game like Meideval: Total War where you could make huge armys and send them across maps. When I first heard of Empire Earth having 1000 pop cap limit if your playing 1 on 1 (pop cap was divided by the amount of players) I was excited to try, I also liked how you could age up from the prehistoric time all the way to the space age. I was kind of disapointed when I first heard in AOE 3 you couldnt do this, (and we know you got plans of releasing future AOE titles by time ranges) but the gameplay offered something diffrent in AOE 3 that I liked and made me not care about the aging thing anymore.
The other thing is that I found the Maps on AOE3 to be a little bit small. I miss the old options of choosing "small, medium, big, huge" and as fellow said the negotiation system with the computers.
