the person who said 1 bank is worth 4 vills is wrong unless he means vills with market upgrades on a mine. also i agree with the advanteges u outlined. the only drawback for banks on being raided is ith the raid comes from ships like a frigate or monitor as villie could run but the bank is stuck of course if the raid is from a galleon or any unit-training ship ur bank and villies are both royally screwed

Banks gather 0.01 coin/second slower than 4 settlers (2.76 vs 2.75).
What is second number based on? Is it mining? Is is plantations? Are upgrades included?

The dutch are my fav civ and I play with them a lot. You are actually wrong because the dutch can have 10 banks, even with vannila. They also can have tulip speculation, increasing bank production to 3.15 gold a second. The way to get ten banks is the 4 you start out with, 2 from the bank of rotterdam and amsterdam cards, 2 from the capitol coin upgrade, and 2 from coffee trade researched at the coin with Religious Freedom. That equals to 31.5 gold a second, or equal to 45 villagers. So the dutch are not completly balanced, but have continous gold that requires nothing, wether its moving or building a plantation, which is 50 more resources than a bank, and of the slowest resource wood to boot.

After yet another defeat by the ottomans i decided to try a nation that seemed almost made to counter them, the Dutch. This Strat is only in its beginning stages and can be countered by good players, but it still works against the majority os people i have play so far. The numbers are the order you do stuff in which is why there are more than one of some. Here goes...
Start (age 1)
1) Put 2 villagers on crates the rest on hunting.
1) Using the starting gold make 3 settlers.
2) When the villagers finish collecting crates build a house and market with one, put the other on food.
3) Age up with 400 wood politian, this will be quite fast compared to other nations.^
NOTE: Don't bother using the 3 villager card or any other because it will arrive when you are nearly at Colonial, rather save it.
Transit
1) Put 6 villagers on food, 4 on wood.
2) Make a house (or if you got lots of wood from treasures/map make 2)
Colonial Age
1) Gather the wood with 2 villagers (the ones on wood). When they collect enough make a bank.
2) Send 700 wood card. When collected enough, make a second bank.3) Using the gold you now get make villagers. (assign with ratio 2:1, food and wood)
3) Build a barracks ,and when you have enough wood, a stable.
3) Send the 700 food card.
4) Start making skirmishers, if you see your oppenent make grenadiers or abus guns make hussars. If you see the enemy make cav get pikes.
At this point you should have a pretty good economy (banks equal about 8 villagers so you should have about a 30 villager economy) and your army counters your enemy nicely. I'm working on what to do after this so I will post soon. Feel free to criticise my strat, but please don't just spam rubbish.
this is gonna be easily steamrolled by a "total rush" with russia or generally very early attacking copy it from a pro watch them they attack or walk to the enemy as soon as they got 10 units and then u are done casue u cant fefen urself and he makes u keeping ur vills gadisoned

People seems to be forgettings that banks do not require population so you have 5 less settlers but have 50 more abilities to fill those with units which other civilization can not.
So you can have 150 ruyeters running around, I doubt there is something in plain field will be able to defeat 150 reyeters on their own. They are very cheap as well.

Wrong. Dutch have an even better eco late game because they get cards that improve banks. Even though they only can train up to 50 vills the banks really stack up.

You can not micro halberiders like ruyeters. Hit and run does not work with halbs but very good with ruyetrs against heavy infantry very well.

Sorry I was in treaty mode when I thought of that last part of the statement. The duch eco compared to other countries is almost worse that the souix eco.

i think that with my experience in the game microsoft has made a mistake. With dutch you can only make 50 settlers and 8 banks(it surprised me that most people don't know how to build more than 6). If you try a no rush game (40 mins for example) you'll see that 8 banks don't worth as 50 settlers gathering coin. If you want to survive in a game like this, you have to put 20 more of your settlers on plantations and only 30 on food. If you compare this with other civs that can make 99 settlers(like british and russians) it doesn't make sense. With civs like these you put 40 or 50 settlers gathering food on mills(depending on your needs) and make much more food -obviously- than 30 settlers with dutch.Conclusion, dutch's economy can not be compared to other civs and microsoft has made it unfair............. -Sorry for my english if i have any mistakes because i live in greece and i don't speak very good english-

never age at 10 if even japs i age at 15 with every civ beside ottos but still i wouldnt recomend 10 villy age more 14-17at least
