Your best bet is to do a 15 Musk semi-FF, take out the forward tower if he has one, also look to raid villies and harass. Don't get caught in a fight you can't win however. Once you're in fortress you'll want to spam goons from a stable and use shipments. I urge caution in this match up, it can be extremely hard to beat on Vanilla, I'm sorry this is the best advice I can give you for this, I had to ask gs (one of the best spain lamers there is tbh) what he thought of the matchup. Hope it helps. :)

Which isbetter, French Musk+Hussar or Xbow+Pike and why?

I'm not calling myself a French expert or anything so no one flame me. Asking what unit combination is the "best" is a really generic and not that great of a question. I suppose if you really want to be that broad, the Musk/Hussar combo is the best since the Hussars will beat any ranged infantry and the musks anything else. Plus the musks require little micro since they beat cav. I recommend using this almost every time since it is a felixble combo and food and gold units is always better than food and wood since wood gathers really slowly. Xbow and pikes should probably only be used against huge hi spams. I recently watched a rec of DAMNIT using a French double rax spam of xbow and pike and it worked wonders against an Ashi spam.

musk hus works well against bow/skirm and hus, musk hus should lose to skirm/bow and pike, and skirm/bow and pike should lose to skirm/bow and cav.

I second both of the above posts, both combo's are good in different situations. Musk/Huss will permit something flexible, dual rax xbow/pike will get you a very strong mass in a short while. Quite depends on your what you're facing, you'll want to play around with what you're comfortable with.

If my post is a bit confusing, you basically want (2-unit combos only) to have both of your units counter both of your opponents units, while only one of their units counter one of your units.

EX:skirm/hus vs skirm/pike (dutch ftw :p)

skirm counter pikes and hus counter skirm

compared to other team:

 pike counters hus, but skirm matches up with other skirm and gets countered by hus, making it almost useless. better for player 2 is hus instead of skirm, so hus>skirm and pike>hus, not to mention the large seige bonus.
