I play as British, and Ashi tend to wipe out Redcoats as well.. Japan seems to be a natural killer of the British. I would not even make an attempt at fighting Japan with India any more, although Sepoys and Gurkhas do last longer than Musketeers/Longbows/Skirms especially with Masabdars..

aztec, russia, french, german, brit should have a good chance vs them. dual rax xbow does well vs them, as well as brit booms and russia mass inf.

brit is asa powerful as japan in this patch. ashis are really weak in 2age compared with brit muskets and sepoys.

india might be the best civ right now.

another thing about british muskets , its their royal guard unit their supposed to have top notch muskets as it being ''their'' unit. where in game does it state that japan's best unit is ashi????

Yeah japan is way too difficult to raid, they should make a patch were the cerry fields need to be a certian distance away from the TC(same for indian forests). xD

Personally that is a very easy way to make them "raidable" and if a person is a good player it should not be much of a problem. The problem is that most civs need to hunt herds to get quick food, which are very raidable, japan has a cerry field right next to the TC with a mine close by for the first 15 min of game where for 10 min raiding is the only way to slow down the japanese. Sepoy rush is hard hitting but can be but they are still raidable, so you can slow down the eco.

this "unraidable" eco which comes from their scattered shrines which take long to take them all down and from their cherry orchards is based on the 2 cherry orchards shipment[x2], japan is screwed if you misjudge to time when to ship those

I totally disagree!!!! In this patch it is impossible to get ashi out early due to the shrine nerf you simply do not have the resources. Would be fine if you could hunt for food but you cant. Sepoy is way OP and slaughters ashi. Any good rush will beat a jap player. You may not get his army if he tries to hit n run with ashi speed, but he will be forced to garrison vills and then he is truely stuffed. i say if you are going to nerf the jap eco and the ashi then at least reduce the cost of making them
