i don't think cannons should count. i think the top four normal units are dog soldier, cursaiers, dopplesdenner and samurai ( and any specialty samurai like hamato). not necessarily in that order

Probably the best unit in the game most would agree is the stagecoach -- I've seen that fuggin thing get hit by great bombards and keep on truckin on 3 wheels ...

haha definetly! trade travois, stagecoach and train are OP! they can run over armies of elephants and such and get bombarded by artillery and are still fine

Re: The best unit in the game
For quick raids & buildings: Russian Oprick. Very good against buildings, kills setterlers in 2 hits, weak against actual armies but can destroy an economy very quickly For courtering infantry: Japanese Yumi Archer, very cheap, fast training (10block with cards) good range+lots of upgrades For countering heavy buildings: Monitor (with special attack from sea) Most Powerfull infantry: (forget the name of, begins with H) Japanese mercianry samuri, only from home city. Expensive, lots of population-but if a dynamo recieves card in the middle of an enermy base=game over) Artillery: arguable calvaly artilleryy (for big maps and manuverability) but for more firepower and number, feild guns. Anti Cavalry: Pikemen? Cavalry: uh anything but Yabusmine, wich are expenise and weak-Hussurs and hand calvaly for countering artillery OR, build severall barracks by enermy base and send swarms and swarms of upgraded stretlets? (Russian)

I've actually killed parts of the train. A battle was going on when it was passing, and a group of inf were under it when some cannons hit the inf, the splash damage destroyed three of the cars

except for range yumi are worst ranged light inf after strelet even after upgrades , they have rof 3 and only 1.5 multiplier against heavy inf (main use) , ashi are more cost effective at countering heavy inf but yumi are better against ranged cav and other ranged light inf

lol -- so I wonder if people with the TP's for that 'delivery' still received full 'shipment' ...

Re: The best unit in the game
This is true, BUT with the right tricks there are so many upgrades you can get for them, and if built in number (which you can do cheaply and quickly in blocks of 10) they are good because they fire very quickly, eliminating most other ranged units before they have time to fire- except cannon (but thats what naginata riders are for). It makes them great for picking off stray villagers and other foot soldiers. The only downside to this combination is countering buildings (which they japs don't do so effectively, unless you make a load of samurai, which cost more population) They might be weaker than other units, but if you have an army of say 50 fully upgraded Yumi archers, no other foot unit in that amount can even get close enough to deal any damage.

dude yumi dont fire quickly , i think yumi is the only archer that has rof3 , even after all upgrades yumi base attack is 58 , longbow man has 34x2 , only benifit yumi has is that they can be trained in 10 and from mobile daimyo, that is same with all japan unit, btw if u are talking rush , than yumi is gud in colonial age , they can own mony other units

yumi > all since they can own mony units. Mony units > cuirassier ... yumi ftw
