    Subject: Lan Lag
My roomate and I purchased the game today. We decided to play together against computer opponents. Every lan game we play lags horrendously. If I host the game or if he hosts it, there is no difference.

My system exceeds the recommended requirements and should easily be able to host any game. His system also exceeds the req requirements.

Is this a known issue? We play vs only 2 comps and even before there are many units we lag a bit. It makes gaming very un enjoyable.

    My system is as follow...

    3400 + Athlon 64 (clawhammer) 1mb Cache
    MSI K8t Neo
    1gb DDr 400
    X800 XT PE graphics adapter
    WD Raptor X2 Raid 0
    Audigy 1

Hey, congratulations, your LAN game actually works! On our network, none of us can see any of the available games.

I am also experiencing this issue online and offline (LAN). It’s a constant freeze/unfreeze every second and it doesn’t get any better or worse as the game progresses. However its worse when playing 2 vs 2 Computers on the LAN.

Me and my roommates had some problems as well... Disabling your firewall and/or virus protection usually does the trick.

As for the lag, it usually only happens now when a huge battle is taking place... Which is still ridiculous because LAN is usually around 100 MB/s.

My guess is since few people LAN these days it wasn't high on their priority list when they were trying to push this thing out the door.

I am totaly stumped on this problem.

I have 3 computers including 1 laptop. All are above the minimum system requirements to play this game, so that isnt the problem. They all play fine single player.

    Box 1: 2 NIC's: (10/100)Cable Internet/ICS - (10/100/1000)LAN (192.168.0.1)
    Box 2: Laptop NIC: (10/100)LAN (192.168.0.2)
    Box 3: 1 NIC: (10/100)LAN (192.168.0.3)

When box 2 or 3 connect to each other the game play is fine. No lag chop whatsoever. When box 2 or 3 connect to box 1, the lag is insanley hideous. When box 1 and 3 connect to 2 or box 1 and 2 connect to 3, there is very little lag at all. Its only when the box with ICS and dual NIC's is serving do I experience any lag.

Firewall, Anti-Malicious removal software all disabled.

At first, I thought, "ICS is causing some kind of bottleneck" but when I disabled the ICS (Internet) NIC in box 1, the lag persisted when serving, so I don't know if thats the issue. I even tried switching the cables of the two NIC's with no change in performance.

I don't know if this will help anyone but I suspect it's ICS or a dual NIC setup thats causing some kind of data transfer issues. So for now, my ICS box will not be able to host, only computers behind ICS.
