Brody!!! You are a genius!!! Awesome!!! It realy worked. Now I was thinking about the first time it happends to me and was when I deleted my windows user passcode (I don't know why that affected the game). I set it again as you said and I have access to my account now. I don't have any idea of the origin of this error, but now that we know the reason ES should work hard to fix it quickly. Thanks again bro!

1. Are you getting -2147467260 as the error code? If not, what is the value?
Nope, I'm getting -2147467259
2. Is there a long delay before this error message pops up? If so, can you time it and let us know how long it is?
Around 5-20 seconds, it varies.
3. Does this happen A) Consistently B) at certain times of the day C) randomly but frequently D) randomly, but seldom?
It just started happening when I tried to log on this morning.
4. How long has it been happening for you?
Just about 30 mins ago when I tried to log on.
5. Has it been happening in Age 3, the WarChiefs, or both?
The WarChiefs.
6. Are you up to date with the latest patches?
Yes
7. Try adding this line to your user.cfg file (in My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Startup:
ESORequestResponseTimeout=300000
Then re-launch the game and try again. Did this allow you to connect? If not, did the delay before the error message pops up increase in length?

yeah I reckon its really wierd how you can change your windows account and it ***** up the game, then you just reset it that way and it works. got me stumped maybe the ES guys and microsoft will work it out. Im just glad it works for everyone.

I have not change a password in the last month, and it only stopped working this morning. Also, I am running Vista, so nothing XP related will help.

hey guys again, oo yea i figured it out. all u do is start a new windows account.

no no no pinkman all u need to do is change the password.
Vista I have no idea how that works or what the problem could be, the only thing I reckon you could do is have a look through the support website http://support.microsoft.com/ph/11732 (Windows Vista Help Site) and then if you cant find anything contact them although from my experience phone supports are absolutely useless. http://support.microsoft.com/ph/9973 (AoEIII Help Site)

Yes, I have that problem for both games. I unistall the game but when I installed again. I could not do it. I got the message saying: "Error-1603 Fatal Error during installation. Consult windows installer help (Msi.chm) orMSDN for more information.....Would you help to fix this problem??? THANKS.

Im pretty sure mine said the same thing as i first launched the game after installing, but it still worked, just try to do it again if it didnt work.

Thanks, Brody! We do believe that we have a fix in the code for this problem (it is in test right now), but it won't be out until the next patch is released. This work around that you found will really help the users experiencing this problem out in the meantime. I'll make sure the moderators know about it and that it gets into the FAQ.

The hardest part in fixing this has been our inability to reproduce the problem on our own computers. That's why all of the user feedback in this thread has been so important (and helpful). If anyone knows how to cause the problem to happen, that would help our testing out as well.

Well I think most of the people are on Windows XP that have had the problem and I know I changed my password for My account which is Admin and that was around the same time that the game stopped working all of a sudden. After uninstalling and reinstalling the game and nothing happened I came her and saw that people could play on other peoples users so I just changed the password that way because it resets all the account and it worked. so it has to be something to do with windows, but other then that im not very techy person so just know what I did.

Brody, i would personly like to thank you for finding a solution to my problem as it worked for me and i can now play thanks alot man your a legend.

Just try putting in a new password but do it the way I posted as it resets your account.
If it doesnt work im not sure what you can do except try and work out what your old password was, or wait for the patch that ES should hopefully bringing out soon to resolve this problem altogether.
