Here's a test I just did in editor, I put 50 ronins against 100 doppelsonders+100 skull kinght+100 Jagurel prowl(all of them without upgrade) and guess what? 50 ronins killed them all.
Lol,smart to compare an imperial unit with all uprades and aura against units with no upgrades,lol. So yeah if we compare fu imperial stelets against colonial hussar i can say they own...

Let's assume a situation where have tow units, both upgraded to the maximum in the 5th age.
Other is a Skirmisher, other is a Doppelsöldner.
Do you really think the Doppel would win?
No way.
Even if a unit has more damage, it doesn't mean that unit is the best. At least not in all situations.

No way.
Even if a unit has more damage, it doesn't mean that unit is the best. At least not in all situations.
They only way 20 doppl,samurai could win 40 skirms/musk or jans is that they have been able to force in melee them before fight start,impossible. The only unit could do this is jag and you'd have 40 of them,but put an explorer and no mre stealth.

what the heck??? where did you get that idea from? I said all of them without upgrade and age, that also included ronin. They all fought with initial status. And that proved your previous statement was stretching the truth and without any knowledge. not only that skull knight and japer can't touch ronin, but they can't even beat a regular samurai as unit to unit

Hatamoto is simply a ronin with german improved mercs card sent. You cant compare a merc against colonial units like skull and dopll Try to make all units imperial and give them all upgrades and you'll see if 20 hatamoto destroy 40 skull knights with area 3 and wardance or 80 imperial jags or against 40 urumi.

what a noobish answer lol!
1. hatamotos are not card sent, nor they are mercenary, you buy then with asian exclusive export points(as long as you have points you can purchase them) They are 2xtimes more powerful than a ronin merchanery. it looks clear to me that you don't have TAD pack and you try to compare units that you never encountered.
2. even as mercanary, they status changes as you age.
3. at all peak upgrade, the only differnce is that hatamoto will slay skull+dopp horde 20 secs faster. skull knight with area 3 dmg? lol
4. As most posters here agreed, as a unit, Hatamoto ronin's status tops all else, at equal ratio(or even facing odds) there's nothing that a hatamoto can't beat. Period

Lol,now try this,open the game go in the editor and,add a ronin and an hatamoto samurai...compare their stats they are the same. If you dont know that skull can have area 3 of damage you prolly dont have twc.

Dopplesoldners:The best unit in the game is the dopplesoldner. Jap Samurai come close to them but they do not beat them. At the forth age dopples are unstopable. They cost less then a ronin but are better then ronin and more cost effective. People think they are not in any great amount but they dont need to be because 20 dopples can kill 40 pikman 40 skirmishers ans still have enough left to kill 20 halbadeirs. People have to consider cards and that they make dopples the best in the whole game. There are 7 cards to upgrading dopples. no other nation has any guy that has that much put into them. If your skirmishers are behind walls they tear the walls down with there 150 seige attack. If they are out gunned they kill the infrantry with their times 2 and murder the calvery with their times 3 with a 78 attack power all together. They are unstopable.
LoL, did you ever hear of "micro"? xD -> 20 skirms behind wall vs 20 doppels = win for skirms if you micro them properly (+ in this case the skirms would be more cost effective ).

Im assuming u mean Landsknechts? Well, when these are compared to Imperial Doppels, they have same HP, slightly higher hand attack and much lower siege attack, so it doesnt really make sense to use them instead. Plus, you have to pay to get them in a shipment, and theres only a small chance that u can get them from the Saloon.
The Shogun is probably the best unit in the game, as it can create all of the Japanese units, recieve shipments and not to mention it has 3000HP and 300 hand attack.And if it gets in a pickle, just make some reinforcements once u have run away.
Although the Sioux Warchief does come close. 5000 attack against artillery? WTF? Seriously, with it's swashbuckler (which is what I refered to) it killed 10 Imperial Bombards in one slash. And then theres "those damn rifle riders" (see thread of the same name)
