Hunt and Mill ups dont work for Cows. There is probably no civ where using cows is as useless, you dont have the cards for it.

The problem with cowing and Germany is that to do it successfully you need two use both the cow card and the fattening card. Germany can barely get the cards it needs out by 40 as it is without using another two. I suppose that you could dispense with the two lower mill cards and instead cow but without a fast-eating card it's a lot of work for limited benefit (a Brit ally with team fattening might change things somewhat). SW do eat cows at double the base rate of a settler but their card doesn't work on herdables so it's best to keep them on other things.

As hayabusa_ryu pointed out below, it does work on herables.

    <Tech name ='HCGuildArtisans' type ='Normal'>

    • herdable
    • 'AbstractMine' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • Mill' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • 'Tree' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • 'Plantation' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • 'Huntable' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • 'BerryBush' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • 'ypBerryBuilding' relativity ='BasePercent'>
    • 'ypGroveBuilding' relativity ='BasePercent'>

Remember that with Germany, once your total settlers are out, you have a 99 + 47 = 146 settler's worth economy. In a 40 you will only have this for less than half the game as your settlers won't be out before 22 minutes. Also each settler has to work for a minute or two  to reach its break-even point.

    • 100\0.84 = ~ two minutes on an unupgraded hunt
    • 100 food/1.675 food/second = ~one minute on a fully-upgraded mill

Deleting 40 settlers gives you a settler population space of 59 + 40 = 99 and a shown number of settlers of 79 (SW are 2 pop space in one but show as 20 units). With 59 regular settlers and 20 carded sett wagons you have the economic equivalent of 59 + 47 = 106 settlers and space for a full army.

Remember that a bigger army can actually be more economically viable than more settlers -- the more units you have shooting at an enemy unit the faster it dies and the less damage your units will take. Put a few healers in among your larger than his army and your economy may well go up vs down. Therefore, you might consider deleting another ten regular settlers (to a shown population of 69), which gives you a couple of cannon. If you see your resources going up in the fight you can delete more settlers and if you see them going down, make more settlers..

I will work on a German cow boom when I have the time and see how it goes.

I think it's mention in the Guild Artisan's details, check out the description in the image below.

And I also numbered my order of sending cards.

You are quite right, when I copied the data for examination I just missed it.

However, I tried a couple of cow booms with Germans today without much success. The German build order just doesn't leave room for the two cards needed to cow late or early.

The card order for Germans might go something like this:

    1. Economic Theory -- general gathering card
    2. Germantown Farmers -- gets your settler wagons out
    3. Refrigeration -- boost for the hunts that are left and mills when gone
    4. Royal Mint -- helps with mining
    5. Factory -- put on wood or what u need to age to V
    6. Factory -- ditto
    7. Guild Artisans -- 35% boost for everything the SW do
    8. 2nd best Mill -- in V you are still producing settlers and this helps
    9. 2nd best Plantation -- Germans are gold heavy civ
    10. 3rd best plantation -- ditto
    11. Advanced Arsenal -- needed for your military
    12. Fast train card -- needed in the fight to replace units
    13. Fast train card -- ditto
    14. Whatever you need -- be dynamic -- I send long-range hitpoints
    15. ditto
    16. Note: the 10% mill card can be sent when you get around to it; if the fight is going well the cards should be rolling in about now

It's not like that I'm very new to Germany, I know about it. But i want to say that I mnot good enough to do proper micro with Germany. And I said about cow boom only becaz, I m tired of doing same things which every ppl does. If u only do same thing again and again, u'll loose interest in the game. I want to do something different and Germany is very suitable for taking many chances. BTW, I have done NO-COW boom too. And yes, Cow booming in the late game will much benefit Germany. MIll = ~2.4 f, Livestock = 6.6 f.

One off topic question, How do u counter artillery especially mortar hidden behind walls when playing with Sioux? Mortars are out of reach caz of long range and I cannot push forward due to it. I easily reach to the outer walls of opponent but their mortars and unable to build furthermore teepees due to first TC LOS prevent me from moving IN. As u know without teepees Sioux units are weaker(very low HP) compared to French etc.

The test booms I do are NR 40 booms. However, I actually play 55s, where cowing might well be an option with Germany. The problem is to determine what cards to leave out. I use the cavalry a lot and natives but the the dopps less so, so one of their hitpoint cards could be removed I guess. Also, I suppose that if you are willing to cow throughout the fight you could remove the 10% mill card.

It's a conundrum but I've seen Sioux build tepees right at a base faster than they could be mortared down.

Thanks again for the reply,Metis, especially for the Sioux link u provided. Believe me, I try to do something different with every civilization I play. I do not want to go on an ancient way(although it has been proven and works). There is no fun in doing same thing again and again. BTW playing with Sioux is most challenging and entertaining too. :P

Here is the end result of a German cow boom at 40 (no walls I was just testing eco). Note that resources, once again, total about 147k. Conclusion: cows with Germans are unnecessary, take unneeded effort, and waste two card spaces that can be used for something more productive.

For sioux, you need an ally who can give a couple mortars and take down walls as you get to them, spamming out tepees can be a temporary measure, but you'll eventually drain doing that. If you can get those mortars, you won't often lose to anyone below 27 or so in PR (assuming you know the other aspects of sioux fight like firepit).

Rifle riders are the answer for arty that cant be reached.

but honestly this really isnt a problem for sioux.    A good sioux player wouldnt push up so hard on some walled area without mates mortors.  Sioux would prefer playing in the open where warchief will **** everything.

and if you do have mortors from mate... war chief will again **** all arty lol

Thank u Metis for trying the cow boom. Although there is no hope but I try to find until i get convinced that there's no use of using cow boom with Germany.

And thanks to Thranduil81, AoE_99 & SC_, for the replies, I was playing against France and Portugal (& my partners were NOT SO GOOD). I breached their 2 walls with warlcubs but what they did, Portugal build 6-7 mortars(50range) and france sent his gendarme + dragoons now I can either counter cavalry or build teepees. I was doing both with my wakinas and warlcub but I cannot spam teepee unlimited as Sioux have no ECO. I have to withdraw from up to backfoot as they were very pro.I can eat anything in Open area with sioux but an unreachable artillery is impossible to touch. Sioux real problems(lack of artillary etc) start when reaching near a PRO enemy walls, U cannot push further due to enemy mortar & artillery and u cannot build further teepee due to enemy TC range.

As i always get noob partners so  I lost the hope of having help from them, that's why I m asking here how to counter protected artillery behind walls if someone found any way.

I answered that question in post above lol... :D

sioux uses rifleriders to kill defended artillery.

but i woulnt bother playing sioux at all without competant mates.... no point if your team doesnt provide mortor support.

Cowing with germany is an all around bad idea, its a completely broken BO and isnt sensible for germany's playstyle, just dont do it :D
