    @ aoe_99 , franch ski 306hp=437effective hp(30%Rr) and 36 attack

     cas 231hp=462 effective hp(50%rr) and 37 attack , so cas>franch ski

You cant assume that skirmishers will only be attacked by other ranged units, so a french skirm is "better" vs hussars than cassadors, besides this fact a skirmisher is cheaper (50 food/65 gold) than a cassador (80 food/40 gold).

    nah it isnt cheaper.

30/0.64 = 46,875 vill seconds more in terms of food cost for cassa

25/0,5 = 50 vill seconds less in terms of coin cost for a cassa

(unupgraded values have been used because I know those by heart, that shouldnt change much in essence though since both res can be upgraded equally much iirc)

EDIT: nvm it appears that gold has way more upgrades.

actually these value are not too usefull , gold have way too many upgrades

    actually its

    30/1.3=23.07

    and 25/1.037=24.1

cas are 1vs cheaper, concept of vs is very wrongly used in tr , as none actually adjust them according to that civ , i am going to post a topic about is soon with analysis of some civs

Regardless, food still gathers significantly faster for port, and for most civs, compared to coin.

Cass are still cheaper than regular skirms.

I think we just calculated (or they) that cass are actually cheaper at their current cost.

    +1

if cas cost 50g and 65g , than port will drain fast , they will be expensive in "vs"

in vill seconds, but not actual resources. you cant have less than 80 food and 40 coin and make a cassador. what im saying is that if they had an ACTUAL cost of 50 f 65 c they would be one of the most cost effective units in the game.

no. A cost of a unit should always be calculated in vs. The other data is just of no relevance.

    Dopellsolder:

    Advantages:

    - very flexible civilization

    - have very good anticavalry unit - Dragoon (the most upgradable in this civilization)

    - neednt build town centers (receive with every age)

    - tough defense after sending TEAM better =D walls

    - add

    Disadvantages:

    - havent ´´strong´´ unit (such as cuirassiers, doppelsoldners, etc) (((you know what I mean)))

    - add

dragoons are beast my friend. they r really fast and i think they r the strongest dragoon from all the civs.

i think people totally missed the naval and maritime advantages of purtagaal in this thread-

    1. maritime economy - fishing and whaling as good as british

    2.  enconmedia manor - does not effect the maritime economy

    3. navigation school

    4. team fishing card

    5. white fleet

by the way who would like

    navigation school

    to be

    a team card?

    sabusa:
Since when do port culvs take 3 shots to kill?

Port-hardened culverins have 560 hit points. An Imperial Port culverin has 70 x 4 = 280 attack versus artillery. 560/280 = 2, so it takes only two full-on shots to kill even a Port-hardened culverin. Now, if you had an Ott and Port teammate both with two team art hit points cards then then you get actual three-shot culverins, unless the opponent is Spain (amazing 114 x 4 = 456 attack vs. artillery if fully unctioned) or, perhaps, France (with the 25% base attack card).

Here are some stats on Port artillery hit points (standard + team hit points card)

    Organ Gun: 277/300

    Culverin: 510/560

    Mortar 555/600

    Horse Cannon 370/400

Note that everything but the mortar is a two-shot kill after team art. hit points.
