Yeah, that was something I don't think I was saying clearly in my posts. 1300 wood buys more than 8 mahouts (ignoring food cost) and mahout>>>war elephant. Chakram have some potential use. I've only played India a few times so I don't know the effectiveness of that vs 1300 wood, but basic calculations on cost and damage+hp shows the war elephant card isn't helpful

the India war elephant called Mahout are im some point cannon againts infantry like bowmans, skirmisher, also you could boost their hp and attack with mansadabar elite units from their wonder.

if you have enough export you can use it for sending some euro units from different ally

war elephant are sufi natives , india have an infinite shipment , they are different from mahout
