We might be able to ask the mods to talk to es/re w.e. If we do happen to find it we can make a User-Fan-Patch,  or a "scenario only patch". It may be 3rd party, but it WILL fix our problems, and we can ask to have this patch posted here on agecomm.

I think I know how to edit the scenario editor, but I don't know how to get into .xmb files

Does anyone have a link to give me that can open/view .xmb files? (mac or pc)

    http://aoe3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=st&fn=1&tn=23622&st=0#post0

reyk pretty much has the editor covered..There's not much more that can be done at the present..The only major drawback is..That you can't go from game version to game version with out moving and changing files so it will work with your game version..This is due to my understanding,  to the game's Exe..

This is why I've been pitching for an "official patch" that would hopefully fix this problem..Also..tweaking the in-game's editor tools and adding some of the most useful ones that reyks new editor 2 has in it..This way we do not need nor depend on a third party editor mod to effectively design scenarios..

    Regards

Just thought I'd mention a few of those tools in the reyk's editor mod that you really learn to depend on.

    1. The larger map maker..Comes in handy..Eliminates the way you have to do it in the in-game editor..
    2. The rotating a unit on it's axis tool..A must have..Especially when creating waterfalls..With this you can rotate the spcxp waterfalls upside down..Then slide it into your cliff..You get the sounds of the waterfalls as well!
    3. The trigger editor..You can create groups, copy/paste your triggers from one scenario to another..This would be an even more powerful tool,  if it wouldn't delete any present triggers in your scenario that your pasting the triggers into.
    4. The pitch tool..This is a part of a much better over-all camera function..Especially for creating cinematics..

These are just a few of many tools that I felt worth mentioning..As you learn how to use them..You depend on them more and more..It would be very hard to design without them.

    Regards

In the forest tool..In the left portion, there are three slide bars..The top one will make the forest thicker if you slide it to the right..You'll still have gaps here and there..In another spot make another forest and then go to "position objects"..Then place the trees where you have open areas..You can first hilight several trees at a time and then click on "position objects" and move multiple trees to the desired locations..Experiment!

To make it rain..Use the "render rain" effect..

The fog..You'll need to look at the light sets..at the top of your editor you'll notice a yellow lightbulb..Click it and you'll see all the light sets..When you find the one you like..There's a couple with fog..In a trigger you use the "set lighting" effect and type in your lighting..

Pear, If you want more trees, open the unit creator editor, and just place a tree-Caribbean or whatever tree you want.

That would be one way to do it..But..When placing trees one at time like you're suggesting..It increases the file size at a greater rate of the scenario..It is better to use the "forest tool" and then move the trees as I posted before in this thread..

To get back on the thread topic again..

Any more suggestions for a scenerio editor tweak patch?

    Regards

    lol

Not everybody has all that you described here..

Maybe lag and loading huge .scn files are not an issue for you..

    But.

If you plan to release your .scn file for others to play..

You may want to keep that I mind..

    Regards

    Oh!!Once more..

We got to try to stay on the thread's topic..

We can always (It is preferred)create another thread for another scenario design topic ok?

Ok. TO be on topic. I have a friend who I play aoe3 with. I told him about agecomm, and got him signed up.

He helped me make this map:

    http://forum.agecommunity.com/forums/thread/839785.aspx

I'll ask him if he can find some scenario editor hacks.
