Loputainjtm:I dont understand your point..
his point is he isn't at a level of gameplay where he can notice if a civ is bad of good.

Re: why haven't you tried the fan patch?
Hanzo_Razor:
I really dont understand why so much emphasis is placed on OP civs. In any case, how can a true balance ever be achieved?.
Once a player is very familiar with a civ of their preference, to which theres many to choose from, they discover the best ways of countering attacks from any civ, and be able to win.
Higher ranked players are good because they know how to control their units, micro and macro well, and are good at soooo many other factors no matter which civ they play. But if they enjoy playing civs that are supposedly OP...why shouldnt they. Its so lame going in to games with a civ you want to play only to be told by host to change civ because the civ u want to play is OP.
you are probably either a russia lamer, otto lamer, or japan (no patch) lamer. yeah those 3 civs ARE op...ottos get free villagers and you can do any strat easily....russia have block in age2 , train units faster, have INSTANT INFANTRY , and vils train by 3's...i dont have tad so idk about japan but i hear ppl complaining about them all the time, worse than ottos and russia, so yeah certain civs are op depending what game ur playing, sup dm or treaty. russia is probably one of the best civs or maybe THE best civ for treaty cuz they have best economy in age3 +, and get army very quickly.

Re: why haven't you tried the fan patch?
River_God:Russian Eco age 3+ is NOT the best... not even close... Germans have best 3+ eco, French have Fur Trade which trades all food for more coin, which gives them a significant boost. Russians have very little to brag about, except that their villes are a little cheaper.
lol are you retarded?? for a german to have best age3 eco, they need to have like 5 mills up (2k wood) lots of food and wood for the setts and wagons, and triple tc...if ur booming like that with germans, chances are your enemy sucks and can't attack with a decent army...Russia vils are cheaper, yes, they train faster, and THEY COME IN 3's!! If you put up 3 town centers, that is 9 vils at a time...plus if u have a lot of blockhouses and the 2 fast infantry cards, u can easily boom and make army as soon as they attack...ive done this many times, people always expect russia to have a bad eco and full out rush people, i just make a decent army and keep people isolated while i age, bring 3 tc up, and start booming. If they attack, i have about 4 blocks at my base with 3 aroudn the map, and the 2 infantry cards sent, plus my army and 18 minutemen with a better eco.

_tank: Loputainjtm:If you have 7 BH on the map, and 4 BH in your base, then you're wasting wood. :p
youve obviously not played against me when I'm russia but I probably wouldnt have any in my base
Nah I haven't, but then again, it depends on how far into the game you are. For me 4 would be max, and even then that's a lot. :p

Re: why haven't you tried the fan patch?
I will not be downloading the fan patch for several reasons.
1. I am very leery of downloading anything from the Internet.
2. I use Macintosh computers, and it is not compatible with them.
3. I do not play online on ESO for the above reason, i.e. ESO is not compatible with the Mac OS.
4. I modify the XML files myself, based on my own biases and knowledge of military history and of weapons. I strongly suspect that many of my changes, like drastically reducing the firepower of the falconet against buildings, would not make a large number of players happy.
5. As both a military historian and game designer, I prefer historical accuracy over play balance for my own games, while putting play balance over historical accuracy when designing a game for the commercial market or when working with a company on game design. Any game patch is going to have to at least attempt to maintain some sort of game balance, but given the nature of the beast, i.e. internal game restrictions, there will always be significant game imbalances for players to utilize. If I am going to deal with play imbalances, I would rather have them be imbalances that I have put in. Ironclads are now much harder to sink and getting harder with every change. Unfortunately, only the Portuguese and the Revolutionary forces can use them. Hard on every one else.
6. Last but not least, I also have heavily modified the resource yields and also modified the resource gathering rates, emphasizing agriculture over hunting. For example, a gold mine is now worth 25,000 coin, and I have yet to exhaust one of them. Silver mines are now worth 5,000. Sardines and squid now are worth 5,000 food, and on maps with them, I do not have much micromanaging of fishing boats to do.

Well then no, there's no reason what so ever that you would download the FanPatch. It's a pure multiplayer patch.
