Re: Big Connection Problems !
ES_Paragon:All of our suggestions are posted in the FAQ.
It seems we might need more than suggestions here, as I, like the rest of the people here with the same problem, have tried them all, and still have the "Failed to join game" error 99.9% of the time.
I always had a router since 2003. I had zero problems connecting to games in AoM. The first times I played AoE 3 online I had no problems as well. I had no problems from December 2005 to about the first half of 2007.
Then some patch, don't know which, screwed on-line play for me. FAQ suggestions don't work. ESO needs to look into the issue again and possibly fix it on their side, which I hope they'll do.

Why can my friend play with others on ESO but not me?
I don't have any problems joining games, but he has gotten "failed to join game several times.'
He is able to host a game and play with others, but I cannot join his game and he cannot join my game.
He has a router and has tried to power cycle it and disable firewall. Don't know why it works with others but not me.
He is Windows XP and I am Windows Vista... I had to download a patch to be able to play and he did not... don't know if that matters.

Re: Why can my friend play with others on ESO but not me?
In AOE I don't believe the game is created via client IP address so routers and power cycling (which would do nothing in this case) would effect whether or not you can join his game or vice versa. Operating systems do not matter either. Now, I'm not sure if AOE allows you to connect to ESO with a different game version which in turn would allow you to play with the same "version" of people, but..I would suggest him to download the update from http://www.agecommunity.com/gameUpdates.aspx and try to apply it and see if it goes through. If it does, then you know that he was using an incorrect version. That's really all I can think of that would be causing it other than server issues. But if it were a server issue you most likely would not be able to connect to anyone... Good luck, Maplewalnut

"Failed to Join Game" Please help!
Hi all, i seem to be having a problem with joining games on ESO, every game i try to join just says "Failed to Join Game". I am aware of the reason for this, as it says in this thread: http://forum.agecommunity.com/forums/permalink/137297/137297/ShowThread.aspx#137297 But i have tried just about everything they have suggested there an i just cannot get it to work!! The odd thing is that i have the EXACT same problem in Company of Heroes (another RTS).
My router is a Netgear FVS318v2. Port-forwarding it never seems to do anything. On www.portforward.com though, it tells me to open port "80". I have heard though that if a hacker or someone tries to get in thats always the first port they check, so i don't really want to open it. Please help me if possible because this is starting to get really annoying. Thanks.

Re: "Failed to Join Game" Please help!
Can someone summarize all communication which must be forwarded?
As far as I know it's necessary to forward this:
2300:2310 UDP
2300 TCP
80 TCP
28800:28805 TCP
Is that all?

Trouble joining in
There is lot of trouble joining in the games listed in the Game Browser. It's very rare that I join in anyone successfully. Most of the time I get the message 'Failed to Join'.
Is this problem faced by most of the users/players? Or do I need to do something different?
If this problem is faced by most of them, then technical team should take this up and try to get rid of this.
There is lot of idle time among the players because of this.
