if you only have pci slots then the 5500 is the best your going to find (the 6200 is very rare). the shadows and shaders are what make the graphics decent and with this card you wont see any big increase in graphics detail but you should get muchsmoother gameplay.

Having graphics fun with AOE3. System had GeForce4 Ti4200 card and the AOE3 splash screens all worked fine but the main menu screen was just slabs of colour with streaky people wandering about leaving slug trails. The slabs hid the menu so you couldn't exit or anything - just had to reset out. Thought graphics card might need to be slightly better so got a GeForce 6200A and although the card works fine with other games, AOE3 just gives a blank screen when it runs. No splash movies or anything, just a black screen and a nice mouse pointer. Sound is fine! The PSU is 300W and I have noticed that 400W is mentioned earlier in the thread. Could this be the problem or am I missing a tweak somewhere?
