killah2628:i just think they need a new game to come out. For the people that say it will cost too much money for Microsoft to make a new patch, REALLY? you think that a multi-billion dollar company can't use a couple thousand dollars, if not that less to make a new game or even a new patch? hahah if so They are greedy BASTARDS
Big Huge Games is dead so no more patches.

personally spreading it helps. i got two friends to join up. if you guys held tournies for lower ranking people with no prizes i would still go as i always wanted to enter a tourney (didnt know they had prizes) but i also dont get how they work. is it all done over comps at home??? idk if like ti was a tourney of AoE for lover lvl players (i think im lvl 15) i would definitly be interested and it would help the people make friends who they like to play with adn they would be on more because who likes playing with those random people who right when treaty ends goes "LOOOLOLOL" then quits? new civs would be amazing! i wish there was a swedish openly availible or italian or dutch need to be fixed to play treaty better or fix war chief civs (not iroquios) or something new like new units or maps. an AoE 4 would eb amazing are they making one?> i thought they werent

There are more new players than experts and if the new players keep getting constantly kicked from games or bashed in rated games then they will get frustrated and go play something else. I can remember when many of the better players today hadn't a clue. It would be nice if the better players would would play a few unrated games a week to teach new players the ropes.

sorry it keeps auto posting :p well anyway. i remebr those days *shudder* every time i joined it was either direct boot or "lol noob" boot. even now i got booted 2 in the past like 6 months because more lvl 22 are on because all the newer guys keep just dropping the game cause everyone acts like they are wayy too good to bother playing a lowly conscript trying to get better just like everyone else had

Re: ideas of attracting more new blood in this game
When I was learning the game I played a lot of 1v1 and 2v2 matches with a British Royal Marine that I got to know through the game. He was good at the technical aspects of the game, having played it in single-player mode, learning all he could about it, for a year while he was stationed on a ship. When came back on leave, he got online and quickly ranked up to Lt. Colonel (people were not as good at the time as they are now). I learned a lot about the game, and had some interesting chats as well, in the couple of months I played with and against him, until he was stationed overseas again and stopped playing the game.
As you all know, I enjoy the minutiae of this game and am always trying to tweak the last point out of a boom. I also realize that there are better boomers and players in the game and am always watching replays and VODs plus gleaning advice from the forum to better myself. Of course, I'm limited somewhat as my reflexes and eyes are not what they used to be when I was younger.
I do like to teach, even in a gaming environment, and will lose several games if someone wants to learn and doesn't "act the noob" (a new player is not going to get very far with me by spamming taunts, harassing the other players verbally, or consistently not listening to relevant advice).
BTW, I just reached a personal goal -- I just hit 2000 ELO (on Seeker).

random question as you probably know the answer, but how come our win percentages/loss percentages are based on a hwole? why arent the win/loss percentages based off of what civ we played and won/lost with that way when i started testing german and dutch etc my losses wouldnt count towards my french and brit civs which i was good with? and shouldnt the same be true for 1v1 and 2v2 because im better at 2v2 and never do 1v1 so people may think im actually adequate (pssh). it annoys me that my percentage is 52 when my french civ win would be like 70% (also wish that after a while u could reset the percentage because as a conscript i lost wayyy too much)

Re: ideas of attracting more new blood in this game
The FAQ explains how ESO PR is calculated.
The Simple ELO Ladders break down your stats in a way the ESO PR calculation doesn't. Because so many noob bashers, point traders, OOS hackers and droptrickers have inflated PRs, many players assess another's skill level by looking at their ELO rating instead.
I wish the game had a better rating system based, perhaps, on something like the ratio of training versus combat experience with "OP-ness" of the two civs taken into consideration, instead of just wins versus losses. This would be especially useful for team games where a player might play very well but still get a loss because of a weak teammate or dropped connection. I also wish the game would have had a stalemate option where the majority of players (say both players in a 1v1, 3 players in a 2v2 and 5 players in a 3v3) could vote to unrate a game, which then would not be counted. Many people use a hack to OOS and unrate games but this is cheating and can result in a ban.
You can reset win percentage by not playing your account for six months -- your PR will remain the same (if under 25, it will decay to 25 if over that) but win percentage and games played will reset to 0.

elo ladder seems confusing to me *shrug* but ye ai agree that a different system would be way great and it seems you thought more about it thatn i did because your idea is much much more developed and much more useful. the stalemate idea i definitly agree with. as far as i know the only way to go unrated is in a free for all which i would never play. these hacks you guys talk about i dont undertsand but when thinkinking back (someone explained droptrick to me) i have been droptricked in games i was winning and i had to quit or wait for hours for it to never unfreeze. wahts oos and what would show it was being used on me? adn really? if i dont play for 6 months it resets? (makes sense because when you return you are rusty and need to be re ranked). thats cool but i dont think i could abandon this game for six months :P. metis, do u wanna play a game vs me unrated mirro so i can record and look back? also how do records work? does it show what all players are doing or only from who hosted the games point of view?

Re: ideas of attracting more new blood in this game
I´m glad to have found a thread like this one since I also think that aoe3 is an awesome game with way to less popularity. One reason why aoe3´s user numbers are decreasing? because microsoft is fricking stupid. Sorry for insults but seriously, aoe3 never had that much of popularity. so why the *** would you split the game up into three parts? twc tad and nilla...no wonder it´s getting harder to find games. I quittet this game long times ago because it sometimes took like 30 minutes to find a game. After that i switched to sc2 but the gameplay can´t reallycompare to aoe3. AOE3 really has a great gameplay IF you found a game. That´s why i´m about to give it a try again. well enough with complains. Did anyone here ever hear about live streams? SC2 players are really into it, also other games like MW3 Leauge of Legends and so on. And it´s also really popular even among people who don´t actually play the games. Basically people will see your gameplays live while you are playing them. teamliquid.com and twitch.tv are the most famous sites to stream i guess. Maybe if we get some people to do it AOE3 will gain some more users.
