With the British in Deathmatch, you always want a solid economy. The 20 villagers from houses really helps start your economy up and your explorer can build 2 additional TC next to your first. Then you can spam out settlers 3 at a time and set up an economy quickly. If he was using cannons, use units that can counter them. For example if he was spamming cannons alone, use hussars. If he had carbineers along with the cannons, use musketeers with culverins behind them to micro the cannons.
