    assuming gendarmes, make musketeers and dragoons.

     assuming he builds skirmishers to kill your muskets, build artillery or hussars. Go with art if you can protect it from the gendarmes.   

    Could probably kill his skirms with longbows too.

    If it's in 2nd age and they make hussars. Make muskets. If they make infantry, go musket for meat damage and l/bow to kill the infantry. You can also add in some pike to destroy buildings quickly

    the enemy is using skirms, cuirassers and falconets. skirms take down musketeers and heavy infantry, cuirassers take down light infantry and artillery, falconets take down all kinds of infantry and maybe buildings. i usaly use aprox. 75 musketeers and a few hussars and every time it ends up that i have no population left to create artillery. I always use the card shipment advanced arsenal. and you should know this: i suck at rush and it usaly takes 30 min to build an army for me. big problem to: never play treaty. played this game as long as it existed but started playing online 3 weeks ago. i didn't even know what the word rush meaned. i'm also confused about treaty. every guy i played with has called me a noob. i don't think i am but maybe i am a noob. :(

    Longbows and Dragoons is a good all purpose combo, being able to effectively counter everything except for mass artillery. But throw in some mortars, as these dont have any siege attack.

    Just build the units that counters what he has. All you need is micro.

    NO, i wasnt meaning RI i meant counter infantry (skirmishers, cassadors, strelets) musketeers are RI but their not light infantry their HEAVY and does NOT fall easely for cavalry cuz of their bayonets.

    Musketeers are classed as heavy infantry coz they get a bonus towards cav, Skirms are classed as Ranged Infantry coz they get a bonus against heav infantry. The only Light Infantry in the game is the Coyote Runner, Disciple and Rattan Shield,with only the Coyote Runner being available in TWC. Light Infantry units are basically cav substitutes, not skirmishers.

    You forgot ERK's, which are light infantry.
