Subject: Problem when trying to play multiplayer

Hi everybody, I just bought the Gold Edition (Age of empires III and Warchiefs, and I cannot play multiplayer tru ESO). When I am in the original game (not expansion) I click "multiplayer" then "ESO online," and then this screen of a British home city appears with a box saying "Testing for Network Connectivity..." and it kinda froze. I leave my computer like that for minutes and cannot even go to my desktop neither close the game, so I always end up shuting down my laptop my cutting the power connection (and yes I make sure I have internet connection before I start the game Smile )

I have run that program from this website to see what problems my game has and this is what I get

First if Internet Explorer is not your primary browser, you should launch it and make sure it has not somehow been set to "off line" mode.

Next make sure have the latest patch for TWC installed.  I recomend downloading and running the standalone patch from the website.    Then you should make sure any firewalls (software and hardware if you have one) you have are configured to all age3x.exe out to the internet.  Sometimes firewalls that auto configure exceptions might not properly update their entry for age3x.exe after patching, so you may want to remove it then have it re-added or manualy re-add it.

My final suggestions would be to make configure you router/firewall to forward the ports the game uses to the computer you are playing on. You can find more information about that in the FAQ, on MS Support , and sites like portforward.com

Thanks a lot for the help it really worked, but just for the original game. What I did was download that patch, then updated my McAfee Firewall and by the time I restarted my computer I got connected to ESO where I played a couple games and got disconnected from the one I was winning Sad

Anyways, everything was working fine until I decided to try the WarChiefs and after clicking "Multiplayer" >> "ES Online" I get this screen of the aztect emperor and his civilization and get all those message of "Connection the ESO," "Downloading Update" and then I get this one:

"There was a connection problem. Make sure you are connected to the internet and can access http://www.eso.com with your web browser"

which of course I did with the Inetrnet Explorer, but nothing happens, so I just press OK and try again to get the same thing.

By the way, after upgrading McAfee I went to "Program permission" and saw that the Age3.exe and Age3x.exe had "Outbound Only Acess." the original version work fine in ESO with such setting, but the WarChiefs didn't, so I changed both Age.exe and Age3x.exe to "Full Acess," but the WarChiefs still doesn't work.

Thanks again for your time and hope to hear from u soon.

PS: Should I leave both Age3.exe and Age3x.exe in Full Acess or is better just to leave them in Outbound Only Acess

You need to download the Warchiefs patch.  You can do so here:
