I am a new player, I love studying history, economics, political science, and sociology.

The installation worked successfully on my Vista. I updated the game software with the patches. 

I can't seem to find where to play as the indigenous peoples anywhere. What am I supposed to do? 

Also, the selling point for Gold Edition for me was being able to incite a revolution after advancing past certain ages as the European societies. I hope that the original game and the expansion packed fused correctly. Is there any way I can find out for sure?

You can only play as the natives when you are running the TWC disk, not the original one. Make sure both are installed, there are 3 native civilizations.

European civilizations can revolt when they reach the 4th age as an option from the town centre.

How many disks are there in total? My box came with 3.

Imo they could have been labeled better. Disc 1 is the Installation(and the one that my computer says is necessary to be able to play) 

Disc 2 and 3 say "game disc" but when I insert them I get a prompt that if I want to start Age of Empires III I need to insert disc 1.

Seriously I opened the box, and there were 3 disks, not 4. 

I guess I'll have to take up the seller on this.

Right. There should be 4 disks: 3 for AOE3, and 1 for war chiefs.

Thank you all. I went to the seller and got my 4th disk, The War Chiefs.

As an apology, I got Asian Dynasties for free :) 

Does Asian Dynasties add anything to the first Age of Empires III, or is it a stand alone expansion?

They are all stand alone expansions. TWC and Aoe CONTENT can be used on TAD, as it si the most recent expansion.

Okay. I have been playing sandbox difficulty to get a feel for the game.

One last question, what happens when an AI player wants to resign but you say "no"?
