fishing boats gather 0.67 a second same as berries livestock gathers at 2.00 a second fastest source of food however the fattening time is about 3:30 mins for fattening sheep I think. making it a bad source in rush until perhaps 3rd age/30 mins vils gather from mines at 0.6 fastest source of unupgraded coin fishing gather 0.34 same as a plantation!

Fishing Boats (food) : 0.67/sec Fishing Boats (coin) : 0.5/sec Plantation (Coin) : 0.5/sec Livestock : 2/sec for Europeans & 1.25/sec for Natives. It takes 357 secs for sheep to fatten without researches for Europeans, Aztecs & Sioux. After researching Selective Breeding it takes 303 secs.

obesechicken13: Nah, I've tested it it's .4 because they walk around. Bumping around makes it even lower - my mistake.Which means on a land map I will likely choose besteiros instead of building 800 wood slow gathering plantations after the gold mines run dry.
well as pointed out, since you are finding the gather rate PER VILLAGER you shouldn't really count the bumping since that would be due to more than one villager. Also IIRC, bumping only really affects the gathering significantly if it's 8 or more vills on plantation/mill.
Everything fun is either illegal, immoral, or fattening.

Cluster_Bomb: However, even though they gather a little more slowly, you can get shipments that make fishing boats much cheaper and the chance of them being raided is much less.
Fishing boats are very vulnerable to raids if far from the dock, more vulnerable to raids IMO. On a water map like carribean or amazonia you might as well forget fishing boats since naval warfare is so prevalent and they so easily killed.

I like carribean because it is more challenging. YOu have to control your island, the sea, and the trade route island all at once which makes it interesting.
