A long long time ago in a galaxy far away i once played Age of Empires 3. However around 6 months ago i ran out of disk space and because i didnt play much anymore removed Age of Empires, WC, and AD.

Now i came back to play again and so i reinstalled Age of Empires 3, attempted War Chiefs. But alas i run into an issue whenever i boot the install for War Chiefs it attempts to uninstall the game and when i press next at the uninstall menu, even though it isnt installed no registry entry, no files, no nothing, it gives me an Unhandled Exception "Error Number: 0x80040702 Description: Failed to load DLL: FirewallInstallHelper Setup will now terminate."

tl;dr I just wish to install War Chiefs so that i can play the game online again but the setup refuses to install only attempt an uninstall which fails.

try uninstalling the registry, here is a site which could help you.

Thanks for the site link, i went to all the locations and there was no data for Age of Empires in my system, no registry or data files to delete however from the add or remove programs it still lists Age of Empires as being installed

try removeing all.. let us know if it works

I did that also and then when I restarted it the cd key wasn't valid anymore.

what you mean it wasnt valid anymore, doing that should not effect your CD
