feels good man:No it really doesn't because Christianity is wrong either way.
WTF!!! How can you say that! Without Christains you wouldt have your computer, your internet, your SAVIOR!!!! (not to mention the peace of mind knowing heaven is what lies for you)
You're right, without Christians I wouldn't have my computer. I am in no way supporting some sort of massive genocide of all Christians. However, the technology required for my computer was inevitable, and in no way required Christianity's existence. Do you see the difference?
No, it wasnt inevitable. If it was just a world full of Pagonistic romans, and muslems, then they would be focused on enjoying life, not know what lies next. So they wouldn't spent years inventing a ground breaking technology.

UnknownCow:On the contrary, presuming humans could exist without the God of Christianity I wholly believe we humans could spiral never-endingly in a primitive dark pit, gradualy building ourselves to the hights of the Pagan world, Greece, Rome, just to fall into darkness again, murder and **** galore, eventualy man might bring itself up, never knowing that all their new thoughts and ideas had been thought before, but then, thy to would fall in a cycle to exist till the end of the world.
Well this is rather ignorant, but can probably be attributed to the fact that you're Roman Catholic. As a rule, these people love to consider humans to be evil and unintelligent without their religion. These people, at least historically, have, as we've discussed previously, been more anti-science than any other sect of Christianity so far. Just ask, again, heretics like Galileo for daring to believe the Earth orbits the Sun.

feels good man:Nikkan you really can't expect to win with those types of arguments. I too wonder why a benevolent god would create a world that required us to harm other life to survive, but questions like that can always be brushed off in the Christian's mind with little mantras like "God works in mysterious ways." Much better to ask questions like "why should I believe what the bible says to be true?"
Perhaps because I've come to the conclusion that life is less enjoyable when your mind is filled with the innevitible intellectual athiest's nihilistic thoughts?

I would think on the scale of eternity, time spent on earth would appear to be nothing. I would think it would be the atheists that concentrate most on improving this life, as they understand it is the only life they have. I would think.

Rofl. Killian, it's like your feeding the lies found in Fundementalist history books. If you'd like to understand the true history read this...

No doubt that religion is a crutch. No doubt I would be more comfortable believing I would always see my loved ones, and bad people were always punished, and there is always someone out there who loves me, and I will never really cease to exist, etc etc. No doubt, Unknowncow, the truth may not be as enjoyable as the illusion. I'm sorry I can't continue our conversation further, but I promised myself I would leave agecomm at 3000 posts.

i know that. it is the true philosophical question. if you want another one how about this: who created god?
...
i just think its a good question. god works in mysterious ways? BS. if he was all good and divine, he would have created a PERFECT world. if something/someone is perfect, then, in my philosophy, everything they create must also be perfect!
and dont dare to drag lucifer in to this now! because it wouldnt change anything. lucifer is also one of gods creatures..
sigh, i dont wanna argue with you anymore, because its waaay too hard to do it via the internet. im pretty sure i could have changed many christians into atheists if it was face to face, but i dont bother. why SHOULD i bother?

Re: Zeitgeist - The Movie, part 2 and 3
Lord Nikken:ok, before i continue, i want to say that this is what the religious people I know believe. they believe that EVERY single person on this earth has the choice to accept jesus and god into their hearts, and if they dont, they WILL burn.
Now, i saw an interesting documentary many years ago, so, again, before i continue, youll have to pardon my lack of details.
However, the lack of details doesnt matter, because the big picture is clear. the documentary was about a group of people going to a jungle in south america (brazil/bolivia areas or something like that), and when they were deep, deep in the jungle, they stumpled across some natives living in the jungle. now, first they had to use WEEKS to make contact with the natives who was constantly fleeing from the white expeditionaries. they had never seen a white man before, and thought they were ghosts haunting them. after the white persons made contact, they showed them inventions they had such as a mirror, a camera, prob some matches etc...
it appeared that the natives living in the jungle hadnt had contact with the outside world for CENTURIES. yes, its true, and not actually that weird, considering the fact that some denced forest areas in south america are ENORMOUS.
now, to the question: these natives didnt even know what a book was. how the hell can the christian people mean that these natives had the choice between accepting jesus christ or not??? they had been living and dying for centuries. does the christian people then mean they are burning in hell because they didnt believe on GOD??
and no, they DIDNT believe in god. the narrator said in the documentary that the natives believed in forest spirits etc......
okay ya i get what your trying to say...but before i continue can you please be a bit more respective just for future reference? Im not trying to flame you or anything so please dont do that same to me and call me a dumbass just cause im a Christian. Okay basicly this is what christians believe in...When you die you dont automatically go to heaven or hell. Your body is somewhat asleep your knocked unconscious (not literally) until Judgment Day. Now once Jesus comes to earth again (his second coming which is stated many times in the new testament) the rapture will occur. All faithful Christians will go to heaven to be judged by God who we believe is an extremely JUST God. Now when will Jesus come to judge us? No one knows but God All Mighty himself. However it is said in the bible that Jesus will not come until the Good News (Jesus' teachings) is bought to the 4 corners of the earth. (not literally 4 corners of the earth because the earth is a spherical shape.) that meaning that everyone has heard of Jesus and has had a chance to believe or not. Then Jesus will come and the rapture will occur. Now God judges everyone accordingly to what that person knows. and there is other stuff to it like what will happen to those who dont believe and whether or not they get a 2nd chance. But i dont have that much knowledge in the Book of Revelations as i am only 16 years old and only recently accepted Jesus as my Savior.

What a said ending post..
Killian, even if everything about my faith is just all a crutch, an illusion, I'd rather live in it than this sick world you call reality.
Unless Red has somethng for me to critique, I guess I'm done posting in this thread too.
It's unfortunate that you've decided to leave Killian, but ah well, goodbye my enemy and friend.

You know what, i enjoy my life better after i became a TRUE atheist. i started as a religious, then became agnostic, then i wanted to believe i was an atheist, then, one night, i FULLY realized the fact that there is no god. no life for ME after death. and i felt empty. i felt depressed. i slept. and the next day i was actually very happy. believe it or not. because the truth is that there IS no life after death, at least not for YOU. but life will continue, and believing that you will live forever in heaven is really just yet another proof of humans selfishness.
