Age of Empires Collectors Edition issues
OK, I bought the Age of Empires Collectors Edition and I have Windows 7 64-bit.AOE1 and AOE2 installed just fine. But when I try to play AOE1, it says that the disc must be inserted. The problem is, the disc is already inserted on my DVD drive. So, I am not able to play AOE1. Is AOE1 compatible to Windows 7 64-bit? Please advise! Thanks!

Re: Age of Empires Collectors Edition issues
I am able to play AOE2 but I have to end the explorer.exe process to solve the colour issues. But as far as AOE1 is concerned, I am not able to play it. Whenever I click on the Start menu, it prompts me to insert the AOE1 disc. But I have already inserted the disc. Please help! Thanks!

While the disc is in, can you go to Start -> Computer and ensure that your PC is seeing the disc in your drive? So you see this:

And not this:

Yes, my drive is reading the disc and I tried to open the game from there. But to no success. I get the same error message which says "Please insert AOE1 disc to proceed". I can play AOE2 though.

musketeer925:Have you tried reinstalling? Not sure why that'd help, but it can't hurt to try.
OK, reinstalling finally worked! Also, I did not need the DVD disc to play AOE! and AOE2! By the way, the colour issue on AOE1 seems fine but that is not the case for AOE2. I have to manually end the explorer.exe process to fix this issue on Windows 7 64-bit. It is strange that the older game AOE1 does not seem to have this issue while AEO2 has it.
