How do you measure fps in this game? My machine runs the game perfectly at full settings, except for some bugs with smoke and dust in Texas.

For those of you with the powerful amd chips and graphics cards, i envy you.(I have a gforce5200) The problem with the slowing might be due to fragmentation of the program. To fix fragmentation, go to my computer and bring up the properties of your hard drive. Defragmentation is under the tools menu.

    Anastasia,

The good news is that, in the demo the leveling for the SPC does not really work like the final game. Once you have the final game your HC will maintain its XP from Act to Act. Although you may aquire a different HC, your XP will always go with you. It really makes completing the 1st scenario of each Act very fun. You will get to go to your new HC and choose alot of upgrades at one time. Then you will continue to level normally from there.

Boring "History of the Game" part

We really struggled with the right way to do this in the SPC (Single Player Campaign). The decision of "does the player keep XP or not from Act to Act" was a difficult one for many design reasons I wont go into. I do think the final design was the best way for the player to get the persistant feel throughout, given our story.

    ES_Bugs911:
Thanks for answering my comments, but I think I confused my main point. It was not so much about the HC maintaining the XP from scenario to scenario but the amount of XP I was able to aquire while playing my best. Not to worry though you clairified my concern for the most part, and I plan to discover for myself what the full game experience is.

    *laughs*
I am a scenario design nerd, and the history is very interesting to me. I can imagine the difficulty, because as soon as I seen the sheer depth of the game I began to wonder about it too. It's easy to imagine how the game gets clarified and decided for MP, but for single player I found two viable solutions. Anyway, I'm very excited, and looking forward to the full game.

Well, the maximum level that a Home City can reach in the demo version without using hacks is 9, but, I would like to know if there would be a limit in the full version too.

I read where the hacks let you continue to go up in levels, but don't provide any extra cards for doing so. I'm not sure if there is a limit but I would imagine it is very high if some of the levels I've seen reported are true. I'm guessing that the levels will play a part in indicating the best MP players so maybe there is no limit.

And another question I have is that if in the full version will be more cards than in the demo, or now there are all of them, although we can't enable all of them without hacks..

We can see in the demo that there were 40 cards set for the campaign at it's release. I was a part of an ES Chat by proxy where an ES Designer mentioned/guessed 44 cards as a possible total for the game.

Im not sure if u guys are still wondering where to get patch for demo, as many of u will probably have the game already (lucky ducks), but it can be found at ageofempires3.com, it says, demo 1.1 now available if u scroll down a bit, or it can be found on this website, at the very top of the home page

    * note u must uninstall the old version of the demo b4 this version can be installed

Hope this helped answer ur question.

    I have the British at level 99. I'm closing into 100! ^_^

But then of course, I only use them in skirmish. Maybe I should move onto other cities?
