    what exactly does ***bloodflow*** do, anyway? And, when I change a bunch of units' names and I select them all, it shows original names. (like when I rename 5 musketeers something like "Royal Guard" and select them all at once, it says Musketeer, not Royal Guard, unlike when they are selected one at a time. Can this be fixed? Any feedback would appreciated...

    @Arabian Knight
    Bloodflow is a visual effect that happens after a unit expires during the game..It has limited visual time..Then it disappears..To my understanding it can be used for cinimatics and screenshots as an added visual effect..You seem pretty savvy with triggers.. In regards to the second part of your post ..The only thing I can figure.. The royal guard is an upgrade for a civ..(British?)..This is found in the techtree.xml..If your triggers aren't doing what you're after maybe try the "player setage" effect along with the others you're using to get the desired results you're after..If that doesn't get it..You could try modding it, but it may cause problems with on-line play..Sorry I couldn't be of more help here..At least you have something to try if you havn't already..Hope I've helped you a little..
    Good Luck!

    @DX14

    You can place a gate on the map near the traderoute..Then select "position objects" at the top of the editor under objects..highlight the gate you placed and then you can put it where you wish.
    Hope this Helps.
    Good Luck!

    @Qui-gon
    Welcome!. You can only make scenarios with the scenario editor..You then can save them as.scn files in the editor..You can then bring them up in the editor to play or you can play them as single player custom scenarios from the main page..To make a random map..This would require the skill of "Scripting".. This is done in notepad or wordpad or a similar utility and then saving the files correctly..It can then be played either on-line or single player random map..There is no map maker as in the previous age games..If your interests tend toward random maps..There is a great stickied thread at the top of this catagory by Monty Python..You can also post your questions in there when they come up..It's a great place to start yourself on the road to scripting..Thank you!. For posting your question in one of the stickied scenario design threads..Looking foreward to helping you in the future if I can.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck my friend!

    This is and excellent thread; I’ve been racking my brains for months trying to get my Custom Scenarios to work, and I just do not understand why ES did not put information on building scenarios in its AOE3 game instruction manual; Frustrations aside, I’m glad I found this forum.

    My question: I build a trade route in a custom scenario, and place a trading post socket next to the trade route, but in game play I can build a trading post in the socket but the trading post will not accept improvements; stage coach, train, etc. The improvement is present in the trading post, when you click it, it does cycle through but then reappears as the same improvement, and there is no change from original trade route to dirt road with stage coach, etc. Any suggestions?

    Secondly; I check the tribes in the Native American Manager and place their sockets on the map, but in game play those sockets appear as trading post with a stage coach upgrade, and not as a native American tribe, even though on the mini-map they have the logo of a Native American tribe. Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much to all of you who know allot more about this stuff then I do. I like AOE3 very much; completed the campaign a couple of times, and enjoy the single player skirmishes, but building scenarios has been a challenge. I also look forward to the expansion this fall.

    Another question; In the Custom Scenario you can play as the “United States,” so I’m wondering if as the United States can you accumulate experience points which allows for more, and different, improvement cards at your home city. If so, can you use those United States improvement cards and experience points in other scenarios; where you can add more experience points like it is done in the single player skirmish game?

    @ PC DUDE
    To answer your first post..Are you playing your civ as human?.Are you selecting Ai loaderstandard for each of your "computer" players?.Are you placing an AI start object at your towncenter?..If you are.. Remove it..Only place AI starts at computer players towncenters..You need to place a "traderoute socket" anywhere along your traderoute..Place it as GAIA..You can place entire native villages by clicking on edit in the editor and scrolling down to "load built in groupings" and place the village of your choice..Again..Place the village as GAIA..I find it easier than making them from scratch..If you're doing all this already.. The only other thing I can suggest is post in the "Technical And Game Support Catagory"..You can always re-install your game if all else fails..(You can find out how to do this in there also)..

    To answer your second post..You can download a mod at Heavengames/downloads with all the campaign cities open and with explorers..It's a good mod but may cause you problems if you play on-line..You then can make St. Louis or Boston your home city and play it in single player/skirmish as United States to build up your Xp to get more cards.. you can get up to a 40 total card/deck..I even modded a bunch of units so I could add it to my civ and make it more personal..You can do almost anything with modding but you can't play on-line unless everybody your playing has the same mods..You can learn about modding at heavengames..The link is all over the two sticky threads in this catagory..
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck!

    Thanks a million kjn, I did what you posted and everything works; now I will check out Heavensgames as you suggested. I would like to see Esemble Studio or Microsoft put some information on Custom Scenario builing in its' game instruction manual; as there is currently none in the manual whatsoever, and I bet allot of gamers are in the dark on this one. Again, thank you for answering my questions.
