Below are several work arounds we have found that have helped people, connected to a router, who were experiencing the "Invalid IP Adress", "Host Canceled/Rejected", or other conectivity issues: - 1. Upgrade your firmware.
- 2. If you have UPnP on, try turning it off.
- 3. If you have UPnP off, try turning it on.
- 4. Forward UDP/TCP ports 2300-2310 (up to 2340 is fine too)
- 5. Turn off DMZ.
- 6. If you are running ZoneAlarm or some other 3rd party firewall app, temporarily disable it and try playing on ESO.
- 7. Some routers have a Gaming Mode. Be sure to enable that option if your router supports this feature.
- 8. Change your computers IP on your router. Example: if your computer sits at 192.168.0.100 change it to 192.168.0.200
- 9.Powercycle your network hardware: Turn off your modem, router, and computer. Wait a few minutes then turn them back on one at a time in the listed order.
Your router manufacture's website should have more information on accessing setup screens and updating firmware. Please note, we do NOT guarantee DirectIP functionality. You may get lucky and get it to work, but we are only trying to support ESO functionality at this time. There are other posts about forwarding certain TCP ports in the 28000 range. We do not use these ports and cannot recommend forwarding them. Other people claim that changing their internal IP address to something different affected something. I won't say it is impossible, but we send up both your internal AND external IP address to ESO and to people that are trying to connect to each other so it should not matter. The Invalid IP case is when the game failed to properly resolve your external IP and uses your internal address for both. We are allowing people to login to ESO anyway (in AOM we did not) in order to give them access to other parts of ESO, such as tech support chat. This issue is typically related to a router configuration problem. We contact an external address server that tries to talk back to your machine and tell it what the external IP address is. If the address server cannot get through the router to your machine, then we cannot know what your external IP is.
