Information on 'ESO does not support your game version' error
Edit 4/27/2007 (with summary):
This error message should be followed by a number. If it is not, you need to get the latest patches and try again.
If the error is -2147467260, you are likely a customer of Tiscali Broadband. They are having issues with connections to certain games and applications during their peak hours. Please call their customer support or visit their forums: http://www.tiscali.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=215. If you are not a Tiscali customer, please let us know by replying in this thread.
If the error is -2147467259, this is an error with the way we are currently implementing our message encryption. We have made some changes and hope to have a fix in the next patch. This should prevent you from having to use a different account for those of you who are using that workaround.
The current workaround for the -2147467259 error is to create a new adminstrator level windows account, log out of windows and then log in with the new account to play.
If you received the -2147467259 error after you changed your windows password, you may want to try a suggestion sent in by user Brody:
Click on the 'Start' menu then 'Control Panel' Run the 'Administrative Tools' (possibly under 'performance and maintenence') Double click 'Computer Management' Double click 'Local Users and Groups' Select 'Users' You should see a list of accounts on the right. Highlight your account by clicking on it. Select the 'Action' menu Select 'Set Password' Change the password to the one you used to use Reboot the computer, log in and you should be able to play.

Original Post -------------------
We are currently looking into this error message that users are reporting when trying to log into ESO. With the new patch it now provides a reference number, and so far we have only gotten reports of -2147467260. For those having this problem, answering the following will help us in our search:
1. Are you getting -2147467260 as the error code? If not, what is the value?
2. Is there a long delay before this error message pops up? If so, can you time it and let us know how long it is?
3. Does this happen A) Consistently B) at certain times of the day C) randomly but frequently D) randomly, but seldom?
4. How long has it been happening for you?
5. Has it been happening in Age 3, the WarChiefs, or both?
6. Are you up to date with the latest patches?
7. Try adding this line to your user.cfg file (in My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Startup: ESORequestResponseTimeout=300000 Then re-launch the game and try again. Did this allow you to connect? If not, did the delay before the error message pops up increase in length?
8. What internet provider are you using, and in which country?
Thanks for your help in answering these questions. Hopefully it will get us closer to identifying the problem. [Edited on 3/21/2007]

A new question that some of you have started answering is, "What network provider are you using?" For those of you on Tiscali, how much downloading do you do in general? Especially with peer-to-peer networks? Here is some info from the Tiscali site: http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/br oadband/build/tcs/tfu.htmlA very small number of customers use Peer to Peer or file sharing software, which constantly sends and receives video and other very large files, throughout the day. This type of activity uses a lot of bandwidth and can significantly reduce the speed at which other customers can access the internet during peak hours. Approximately 1% of customers use more than 30% of the available bandwidth during peak hours. We don't believe this is fair to the vast majority of our customers.
This fair usage policy automatically identifies the very small number of extremely heavy users and manages their bandwidth only during peak hours (6pm to 11pm Monday to Sunday), to protect the service for all our other customers. Outside peak hours, the use of the internet by these heavy users is unaffected.

richard098, are you on Tiscali? This sounds very much like your situation (the hours are almost exactly when you report your problem). If you aren't on Tiscali, what is your provider? Also to note is that I believe this is more for those with the -2147467260 error, not those with the -2147467259 error.

Yesterday I logged in with my account as always, i (never) had no problems up to that point. Today (3-21) i had this problem. I was looking at other posts and there's one that says you can log in with another account. Prior to today I had only one account on this machine - with no password. Today, I created a new account, along with its password, and also changed my account to have a password now. And then I had the 2147467259 message.
I think it has something to do with the password change, since I've tryed with my laptop, and I have no problems there - I just have the problem on this machine, and just today that I changed the account password. Also, I've tryed with the new account, which was never used to loging to eso, and everything was fine.
Hope this helps.
