Subject: Can't connect with ESO on AoM or AoT

I bought AoM and AoT the day they came out, but never registered online

But after playing AoE3 online for quite a while, I felt like registering my old AoM games as well.

After quite a bit trouble i finally managed to creating an online account. The first attempts ended with an error box appearing on my screen. Except it stood nothing on it, it was blank with an OK button. So after a series of tries I managed to create an account with user name "gdfgdfgfdgdgdf" (Got tired of retyping my nick over and over, so I just slashed my keyboard :P )

However, once clicking on login I got the following messages:

On AoM -  "To connect to ESO, the default language in Internet Explorer must be set correctly. Please visit www.eso.com for more information. (8) "

And AoT - "Unable to connect with ESO (on UDP port 2300) due to a network error or lack of administration rights. Visit www.eso.com for more information"

Now I'm not the problem solving guy, I don't even know what these messages mean. Just.. Tell me what  to do in clear sentences. If it helps me, you'll all get a cookie <3

Welcome to the AOE3 Forums Labbetuss. Glad that you are part of the community.

Well, for the problem, i'd say about AOT, that your FIREWALL is blocking connection, as it clearly says "Unable to connect with ESO (on UDP port 2300) due to a network error or lack of administration rights.

This Maybe the cause of your problem. I know I can connect to AOM online now, after diabling my firewall manually, and not just letting the game through, because it didn't work for me. Give it a shot, but as for the rest, leave it up to ES to solve.

    Yeah, thanks

I tried disabling my firewall just now, and I got the same message I'm afraid

It's a few years since I installed the game though, guess I could try re-installing it. But somehow I've got this strange feeling that it's not gonna do any good.

What is "UDP port 2300" and Internet Explorer default language anyways?

Just hope someone can tell me exactly what these messages mean, and what to do about them.
