French would win in vanilla DM game.  The reason is because french overall has the strongest military. Since good DM players usually play the ranged military game, the french will beat the spanish since the spanish are weak in ranged military. The good spanish player would have to completely adjust to ranged military to counter effectively.

But it is not because french have great cavs that they would win, they actually do have great cavs probably the best.  But try send a bunch of expensive gendarmes into a larger bunch of cheap pikeman. :-)

and to bring up another question what if we got the worst spainish and french players then who would win

who would win french or spainsh if we got the 2 best ppl at french and spainsh in a 1v1 dm how long would u reckon  it would go on for and which civ would u say would win?

French would win in 45 min max.  They are just to good for the spanish.

Votigeours+cannon>anything the spanish player can get except lancers,and French cavalary can deal with lancers pretty easilly

even a pure Rod/tercio would have a hard time against mass cuirs, their trample atack really mess with anykind of infantary.
