Subject: euro. civs. royal guard should be changed

the European civs are very much alike and i think that that could be fixed by looking at the royal guard. the royal guard is a improvement that is an addition to the guard upgrade it costs 1000wood 1000 coin and improves its unit by 20 percent attack/hp. compared to 600 coin 600 wood 10 percent hp/attack.

that could be changed that for example Red coats becomes 1000 wood 1000 coin 10 percent hp and + 0.75 attack vs cav.

while the Portuguese version would be

     Guestiorors (SP) + 10t hp 35precent attack.

this is only an idea but i might be interesting to have a larger difference between the euro civs. Also this is only an idea i don't actually expect.

ideas for other royal guards are welcome as well as criticism about it being useful or not.

    Maybe it would work...

I'd like to see Royal Guard units for the Asians and Natives, so I would say that the Royal Guard Mahout changes the wood cost to gold, and increases attack by 20%.

Royal Guard units are not necessary for the Asians/Native civs, since they already have units which no other civ has. They invented Royal Guard units to add some unit variety to civs with almost thesame units, or civs with just 1 kind of unit. Germany has Royal Skirms, they don't have Musks. British have Royal Musks, they don't have Skirms (Ofcourse they have Longbowmen, but they're not as good). So why make special units even more special??

i agree that the native Americans/ Asian civs don't need royal guard because there units are already special.

    i prefer LB to skirms

i agree natives and indian civs dont need royal guard.

i think that royal guard upgrade should do more, coz atm they only do 10% more than the bog standard guard upgrade - i would like to see the RG upgrade be at least 20% better than the bog standard G upgrade

Well first of all, royal guard improvements imporve by 40%, unlike nomral guard improvements that are 30%.

I do like the idea of the extra bonus. The only problem would be that gendarme would be even more op, and even thogu your boosting other civs anti cav, the natives and asians would get the short end of the stick.

Maybe Ive been drinking too much, but why not switch the Gendarmes to Dragoons? Technically, Gendarmes were like policemen and guards, and I think that Dragoons would be more suited to this role. It would also give them a better anti cav, which isnt really seen at the moment as halberdiers are seldom used with the French.

Then, we could give the Royal Guard units individual upgrades, like redcoats get 30% more hitpoints, whilst Guerrioros get 30% more attack, to differentiate between Royal Guard units. Also, the New Gendarmes could have 50% more armor and 10% more attack and hitpoints, and Jinetes could have 20% more attack and 10% more speed. this could go on for ages, and it would produce a lot of variety.

Voltigeurs could be 20% faster and have 10% more hitpoints, and Prussian Needle Guns could have 30% more attack. Life Guards should have 20% more hitpoints and 25% more armor, whilst Gardeners could have 20% more attack and 10% more speed. Pavlovs could have 10% more attack and 25% more range, Baratcu could have 40% more speed and all of the unique units like Uhlans and Tartar Loyalists (in terms of which civ can Royal Guard them) would have a slightly bigger boost than at the moment, with 15% more attack and 15% more hitpoints.

Does anyone else think that this would be a good idea?

i like the idea of the royal guards very much, and i want to say that the gendarmes dont have to be boosted but just chanced, like ( just speculation) giving them 30% more attack, but just a small or no hp upgrade. but ofcourse the gendarme is a uniq unit so it doesnt have to be chanced because theres no other.

this royal guard chances would be very good for units like skirmishers, musketeers ect

    In my humble opinion:

The game is already pretty tricky to balance, don't complicate things. The Euro's are very different.
