Ports vs Sioux
Hi all, I'm having great troubles with my Ports vs Sioux. Like the game I played today for example: I lost it because my civ is weaker, not because he was more skilled than I or something like that. I took a look at the timeline after the game and in the beginning I was even better and faster than the Sioux dude... then I decided to attack him and woops: my army got whiped out He didn't outnumber me & he didn't outmicro me, he just won because of his stronger men! But what am I supposed to do with Ports? Because: Port age I -> sucks; Port age II -> sucks; Port age III -> decent & Port age IV -> n1ce! But then again, if you are both about equal skill, then I don't think you can boom freely into age IV right? Sioux simply own Ports in age I, II & III that's what I think about it, so... Can anybody help me out here? Thx. P.S.: No I won't quit Ports 'cause I like them! I can handle almost every civ with them EXCEPT Sioux.

Re: Ports vs Sioux
Well one, cassies eat rifle riders up for breakfast so there is no need for pikes in that case. What you do need pikes and halabs for though is dealing with his Axe riders. Rifle riders have a damage multiplier of like x2 or x3 (can'tremember which) to heavy infantry so you want to keep your pikes and halabs away from rifle riders if possible. If you can get cassies, halabs and goons out you're golden.

Re: Ports vs Sioux
TranceKuja:If you can get to fort in okay shape their chances aren't very good. Once you get to indy and send the dragoon range card your goons beat anything they can make.
And don't forget to research Ranged Cavalry Caracole. Then not even their Wakinas can match up with the Goons in range.
Once you get to Indy, make sure to stop producing halberds as much and focus more on Guerreiro musketeers (due to the Gunpowder Unit cards improving HP and Attack by 30% each, along with it being a RG upgrade). Mix Guerreiros, Cacadores and Jinetes and you'll have them beaten so long as you micro.

Just get Jinetes(w/ range upgrade card), cannons(to deal with wakina spam), and spies(to protect cannons from warchief).

It's good to have a bit of mix; Jinetes are stronger at range and have better range but a bit of a meatshield in case they try to have you outflanked is good.
