I dont get the point with having your buildings use up a lot of space.
I mostly wall in my squishy buildings so they focus their attack on the place i want them to come. As the others said, go FF.

Get some prowlers well positioned and a cheap meat shield as defense.
The musket rider is quite good aswell, and so is the artillery, which is kinda allround and packs quite a bunch when you have them in numbers.

And if you have a resource problem, put more settlers on it and get them defended. They dont **** them with a big force anyway, so just a few prowlers will do.

iroqoui arn't as bad as most people think they have tons of different ways to win, using their unique things they can have some very different tactics, like i don't actually use this in games but its fun, by 10 mins using fire pit travois dace you ca have max war huts and FF and all houses etc right outside his base, once he attacksuse the buiding dace and al you need is a few units to destroy hs whole army,if he tries to sneak around the sideattac him so hes forced to be couped up in his base while you expand.
