In a long treaty always max out villies. In any game you should be trying to max out villes, but the advantage the ottos have is that villies are free and keep training. Just do the upgrades, and send improvement cards and you'll be fine.

Don't be stupid though, don't send jannisaries against skirms, kill them with hussars.

I just finished a 45 min treaty with them, they are pretty good. I built up really fast but they didn't have many econ cards. Near the 40 minute mark everyone else caught with me and later had a higher score.

     What

    oops posted twice

What is something else that is good to build up the econ besides maxing villies and upgrades, like building order or something.

what was your score at the end of treaty. And in short, no the ottos suck in treaty. They dont have very many millitary units, so they are quite easy to counter. They can make jannies, hussars, cav archers, abus guns or some kind of cannon. Not very difficult to counter, plus their units arent very good. Jannies have a lot of hp but not much attack. They have royal guard hussars which arent bad, but their cav archers arent that good i dont believe. Their arty is quite good, but arty is really easy to counter ( ranged cav, culvs, flaming arrows, light cannons, arrow knights)

wow talk about being a noob

Jannies are the strongest musketeer unit in the game, as quoted by ES, rivaled only by Redcoats and ashingus are w/e they are. You are apparently to ignorant to realize that High HP and low attack is a much strong combo then High Attack low HP. Likewise There high HP makes them the best defense for cannon behind them, and they are stronger then gerdnams ( 2 jans cost lest resources, take up less pop and beat an gerdnam). Like wise they are one of the best anti cavalry units out there. To top it all off, they can build barracks, artilery foundrys, and stables so you dont have to take your vills off of there plantations and mills. High hp also makes them good siege units, because they also have high siege for a infantry unit. And they can tango with skirms to an extent (Except japs bows, FP's and LB's because of increased range) if used properly (IE. About half jans go melee wile the other half keeps fireing)

Cavelry archers are very strong, and with the right cards get a bonus against settlers.

Abus guns, wile costing 2 pop, are still one of the best skirms. They deal siege damage, which makes them able to hit any unit and deal good damage, and 2 hit almost every heavy inf out there, ashingus with there HP boosts from the gold pavilion rather then attack might take 3, but it takes ashingus more then 3 hits to kill an abus.

They have one of the top hussars (2nd or 3rd best) and good artillery, and there grenadiers are also one of the best do to the amount of upgrades.

Great Bombards, are the best cannon out there. (they have twice the base stats, but fire and move twice as slow, however, this makes there upgrades on HP and Attack effect them on a greater scale). When mixed with Imp field guns (FIELD GUNS not horse artillery, field guns fire more often, so they soften units up real well for bombards) they are even stronger!

Ottomans are anything but easy to counter, with there units being so strong. They eco might be a little slow, but something tells me you haven't thought about using cows and sheep as a booster, which give large net gains of food regardless of weather you use the cards a\or not (obviously cards are better) for every civ.

OTTOMANS ARE GOOD WITH SUP, NOOB MODE (TR) AND DM WHEN USED RIGHT.
