Re: halo wars for pc!
Rico The Great: Wilson_teh_Great:Halo Wars has been built from the ground up to work on the 360, guys, transferring it to PC would require large amounts of coding to be re-written. Unless there is a sizable market for Halo Wars on PC I highly doubt ES will bother. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it for PC, I am just being realistic.
The x box like other gaming consoles is basically a computer dedicated to play games. The games are made on computers and the prototypes are played on a computer first before they write them to play on the x box. So it would not be that hard to make it for a PC.
The coding can't just have a few small modifications to it and then boom, games ready to hit the shelves. It has to be more or less rewritten. For example, in Halo Wars for Xbox 360 the camera position moves with the direction you push the joystick. On a PC, the camera position doesn't move until the mouse cursor moves to the edge of the screen. This is just a small example of how porting the game from system to system would not be as easy as you make it sound.

Your right it is not just a few small modifications, but when you have an office for of well trained game designers it really is not that hard.(my friend works for blizzard) The creation of the codes and templates for a new unique game is the hard long part not modifying an already existing game to work on a different platform.

once i've read that the X360 uses a SIMILAR coding than the PC, not the same so it wouldn't be a complete rewrite but it wouldn't also be a find/replace, because even if it works, the game wouldn't be very optimized also, on X360, it's always the same hardware, but on PC, you need to make graphics that runs both on older comps AND has good graphics on high-end comps resuming, it'd take some time to make a PC version, but it isn't impossible

Kaarle_W:ES wouldn't ignore a chance to make a considerable profit.
Maybe that's why it's not for PC. The way they're doing may be that they're forcing people to buy a X360 if they really want to play Halo Wars, and we all know how much more X360 + Game costs to a single computer game....

Re: halo wars for pc!
That wouldn't make much sense. If ES really expects gamers to buy both a new and an expensive console and a game just to be able to play the game, they're stupid. (I don't think they are) Look, Halo Wars would be nice to play, but you can survive without it. One way would be to buy the upcoming Starcraft II, for example. If one has to buy a brand new console at the price of about $300 (at the lowest) to be able to play a game, which you also need to buy, I'm quite sure that game wouldn't sell. People aren't ready to pay $350 for a game. They simply go for a cheaper solution, which in this case would definetely be Starcraft II. In addition, RTS games aren't as well-playable on a console as on PC. RTS for PC sells more. On consoles you play games like Halo and Halo 2, racing games, FPS, whatever... not really RTS, wouldn't you say?
To conclude: Assuming people will spend over $300 on a game is only a pleasant fiction for game makers. -> ES would make more money if they released the game for PC. Based on these arguments and encouraged by the comment posted by MosheLevi, I dare say that I am quite convinced that Halo Wars, ladies and gentlemen, will sooner or later be released for PC. (The sooner the better, especially because the release date of Starcraft II is nearrrr)
