    Subject: I can't load custom maps

    Hi. I can't load custom maps. I copy the two files into my folder RM and when i click on the button Custom maps in the game it tells me that "you have no custom maps loaded. disabling the custom map toggle toggle". Any ideas?

    hmm... no i have no idea.. i dont even know how to play custom maps.  or how to do any of that copying maps into folders....

    what can i say... IM AN IDIOT

    May sound funny, but what version are you using (TWC, TAD)? Because:

    1. For the main (AoE 3) game you have to copy your files to: \My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM

    2. For other version (TAD) you have to copy your files to: \My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM3

    I did put the tad file into the RM3 folder, it did not work.

    Subject: wrong folder

    I have found, after answering this question dozens of times, the answer has to do with not following the instructions in virtually every case.

    strategist2 - do you understand folder structure?  - if so follow the instructions exactly about where to place the 2 identically named files for the random map.  They do NOT go in the game install directory's RM3 folder where the ES maps are found.  There is a folder in My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires 3 also named RM3 for the custom random maps.
