    Subject: Game runs slow
Ok heres the deal. I have the game on almost a bare minimum. I dont have water reflections, anti aisling w/e its called, i have texures on low, no shadows, medium shaders, tracers low, no footprints etc. its windowed and its on the 3rd to the highest resolution setting. My game still runs slow as a snail!

I have no programs running in the background and I dont play 4v4's only 3v3's but there is still a problem. Its ridiculous. Usually what happens is, about 10-20 minutes into the game the game will come to a grinding halt. The screen will go black for less than a second and return to normal and the game will just be stopped for about 2 minutes. I look on task manager when this happens and my processor is on 100 percent. Both of them! It makes it unplayable! I would think id need more RAM or a better processor but I exceed all the requirements according to systemrequirementslab.com

My comp is a dell E1505, 1 gig, 256 MB X1400 ATI mobility gfx card, intel duo core, i use windows vista and i scanned my comp for viruses and malware, spyware, etc. I would love to play just one game without problems. I have never had the tech problems I have with aoe3 with any other game and its really pissing me off. HELP!!!

Yes, i would upgrade the video card. I did it 3 days ago. Here is my specs:

    Dell Dimension 1100

    512MB RAM

    2.80GHz

    Video card:

    nVidia GeForce 6200 256MB

I can run AOE3 on HIGH shadows, water reflections on, shader on HIGH, and everything else on, with NO LAG!!!

And, on top of that, HUGE naval battles, with NO LAG. I run this game really easily now.

The problem is he has a laptop, so cant upgrade,

you have a dedicated video card so should be able to play this game, however you're gunna have to set everything to low or off (including shaders) to get decent frame rates with that card

i dont get this guy above with the 6200^ you're card is far better yet barely manages on low settings, so i assume hes getting around 5fps? i had a 6200 years ago and could barely play the game on minimum, ive had onboard graphics (ATI X1200) that have performed better

Doesn't it slow your game down if you window it? You shouldn't do that windowing thing.

Well, I can play Shader and Shadows set to HIGH, and water refelctions on. NO LAG. My card is good.
