the knight wins. no matter about how the samurai looks, knights dont feel fear of their enemy, besides their swords are much heavier than a katana, one knight sword hit is a sure death for anyone.

    Henry Clay a.k.a. jacklope:

    OMG A SHIELD!

the samurai could easily hop behind him and shove him so he falls on the ground and then just stab him...

yes, i'm sure they shorter japanses worrior, could hop clean over the taler knight, then without struggle push, lets say 150 man + 100 lbs wieght of armour shield and weapon, then simply stab him in the back, laugh, and walk away.

now enough sarcasm :). i think knight would win because japanses armour was better suited to defend against slashing weapons, notice the openings in the body armour, almost like scales? plate armor was stronger and heavyier, but could be peirced with smaller, sharper weapons, but if he has a shield it would be hard to get a clean stab.

    TRUGADOR!

Samurai were trained to target weaker areas of the armor, like by the shoulder or thigh. Also they were trained to attack the hands of the opponents in counters. 1v1 Samurai would dominate vs a knight, however, in a well organized battle of like 50 vs 50 I would say knights would come out on top, or atleast closer.

This is why I eat ramen.

I'm going to say it depends more on the individual skill of the knight and samurai fighting than anything. So it depends, basically...

Put on 100 pounds of armor and see how fast you can swing a sword 5 feet tall.

i say the samurai. faster moving. clean cut to the leg or someting and the knight would be out.

What part of knight in full plate did you not understand? His legs, arms, head, chest, butt, underarm, balls, foot, knees and back are all protected by leather and steel plate. Plus knight have a shield, but samurai got two handed sword(katana).

If the samurai try to swing his sword at the knight legs then the knight will shield bash him in the face plus it would be dishonorable to fight dirty.

Let find a video of a Samurai fighting a Knight then we get our answers.

    Edit: After watching this

I change my mind, but I think it should be a european in that suit not a japanese or else the knight would be bigger and stronger. :\

That video is straight out xenophobic Japanese propaganda.

Exactly, it's complete BS^. The guy in the armor is obviously an idiot, or pretending to be one.

Here is something interesting I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ST1wRzfgmI

    Kendo vs. Fencing.

If the knight used a rapier, his sword style would at least win out.

I'm going to make a 10 lv knight and a 10 lv samurai from D&D, roll some dice, and see what happen. There nothing like some good D&D can't sovle.

Wow... I remember a thread like this one a long time ago, before I even joined AgeComm (broswed). There was a link to an enourmous arcticle about just this match up.

In any case, it would definitly be a shrwed match up, but I think I'ma go with the Samurai. Much faster than the knight, his Katana (if I'm unmistaken) can hack through all but the thickest armour.

Just my 2 cents, I'm by no means an expert. ^ ^ Nice topic.
