GuitarHeroMatt:Solution: Give the Ports a villager with every shipment. Simple! Also a slight shipment bonus would be good, like the Spanish but maybe just 15% instead of 25%. Then they could send Colonial Militia, 300 Wood/Food and 700 Coin from the get go.
I like this. It would really improve the portuguese. 1 settler per shipment AND the bonus is one of the best ideas. Hope ES agrees.

I would like to see these to be applied to the next patch
1 extra settler per shipment. Silos card instead of Spice trade to make Ecomienda Manor really worthy. Team Fish Market 20% gather rate. Mamelukes instead of Black Riders and lower besteiros cost, we could receive less besteiros but we could compensate by making new ones from barracks. It would make this card much better.
House of Bragança. I agree with the 2 resources trickle card but with lower %. Team Gunpowder Unit sounds GREAT! This could be a Age IV card, Gunpowder Infantry Damage moved to Age III and Gunpowder Hitpoints moved to Age II. Increase Organs against Buildings. White fleet spams caravels and 25% more Hitpoints and more LOS

Here are the changes that I would like to see in the following patch for the Portuguese.
- An extra villager with every shipment, like the Indians.
- Shipment rate is boosted to 0.85, as opposed to 1. This lets the Ports send more shipments in the Discovery Age, to prepare for an attack with.
- Spice trade upgrades replaced by Food Silos and Sustainable Agriculture, whilst Encomedia Manor boosts Food gathering as a whole by 20% (not fishing boats tho) and increases villager cost by 15%. This is still a small profit when making new villagers, and a large profit when it comes to everything else.
- Team Fish Market Boosted
- Team Gunpowder available in Fortress, for a killer FF.
- House of Braganca, perhaps this boosts villie gather/train rate? 10% each would be useful.
- Portuguese get a card which increase Culverin siege damage against buildings, to 120 perhaps? This would make them more viable at sieging.
- Besterios become an Infinite Shipment of 16 at 1500 Wood in Fortress, and upgrades all existing Crossbows.
- Mamelukes replace Black Riders, instead of Besterios they get 18 Cassadors for 2000 Coin and boost Cassador Ranged Resist by 10% (so back to 60%)
- White Fleet available in Discovery, effect becomes like Schooners but also affects train rate (Schooners will be removed) So wood cost and train time reduced by 40-50% each?
- "Extra Calibur" or something, increases Organ Gun attack by 25% and gives them a total of x0.8 vs buildings.
- The Ports are also allowed a maximum of 12 cards for each age, making a stronger FF or early game.

Despite the fact I like cassadores more now as before the patch. I feel that they´re attack was reduced too much. Maybe a 20 attack or at least 18 would make them perfect. Otherwise they´re almost like skirms. They have lower hitpoints, a better armour, ROF now 3 like the other skirms but they´re attack passed from 26 to 17.
They were a unit with low hitpoints great armor and a devastating attack against infantry. They are a unique unit, I think they´re attack could be a little increased.
You all know I hate besteiros and I would prefer to see that shipment of cassadors instead but I don´t think that´s going to happen. So at least consider the besteiros cost reduction. But the most important boost in the next patch should be an ECO boost. We´ve been waiting for that for ages!!! A serious boost.

that would make ports OP, but if some of these changes were made, they could be balanced. also, they aren't soooo UP, just a little bit

- Spice trade upgrades replaced by Food Silos and Sustainable Agriculture, whilst Encomedia Manor boosts Food gathering as a whole by 20% (including fishing boats, but not whaling) and increases villager cost by 15%. This is still a small profit when making new villagers, and a large profit when it comes to everything else.
- Regular Fish Market, Team:Schooners which decreases wood cost of fishing boats by 40% (as opposed to the usual 60%)
- Besterios become an Infinite Shipment of 16 at 1500 Wood in Fortress, and upgrades all existing Crossbows.
- 8 Mamelukes replace 11 Black Riders, instead of Besterios they get 16 Cassadors for 2000 Coin and boost Cassador Ranged Resist by 10% (so back to 60%)
- "Extra Calibur" or something, increases Organ Gun attack by 25% and gives them a total of x0.8 vs buildings. Fortress Age Shipment

Before I removed those ideas, it would make the Ports a nightmare in nr40. All they would need are instant Jinetes and a Fur Trade card...

My new ideas: - + 1 starting wood crate, so that they can build more than just 1 house.
- + 1 villager with age up; 1 TC+1 villager every age.
- House of Bricagna card changed to a double trickle (colonial aged): 1.50 Food trickle rate + 1.25 wood trickle rate.
- TEAM fish markets card improved to 15%. Any more will make this card OP.
- TEAM cheap outposts now gives -10% train points to outposts, war huts, blockhouses, and castles in addition to -30% cost.
- 2 culverin card in age 4 moved to age 3; Changed to 1 culverin + 6 cassadors.
- Bestieros tech cost reduced to 1500 wood; Number of Crossbowmen reduced to 16. (not necessary)
These changes will be almost all Portugal needs. I have seen some other really good ideas here, especially from "Portugues". 11 Black Riders I have actually used before...quite useful. I personally hope a ES person could look at a few of these changes.

So you think Portugal is balanced....eh? I agree some of my changes (especially ones to germany) would be ridiculous, mainly because I used to lame Germany during the OP period. Why can't Ports start with a little boost early on? Sure it might be lame in treaty but the game is not totally balanced for treaty. I only know one person who uses house of Bricagna card, and it isn't very good...why not a double trickle instead? Ports can rush somewhat, but it needs to be a bit faster. Haven't you had any of your towers destroyed when it was 90% done? Besides, building a culverin costs a lot, and when you are forced to turtle, and you enemy comes with 1 cannon you are all over. Why can't Portugal get a nice shipment like this? What if a team starts out with no extra scout/bonus other than the explorer spyglass, 7 vils, and no villager shipments and only 3 military shipments in age 2! (8 xbows, 6 muskets, 5 spies)
For pities sake! Can you not even agree on one change? I think however that we will only need the trickle and the extra crates.
There military is above par, but you can only get it up once you get to fortress....unless you rush with xbows/muskets. Note: A person was sarcastic when he talked about the age 1 curaissiers.
