Zweihander:
First off I want to say that I don't want to turn this into a history thread on Dopps and Sams,
One handed swords (that includes the Katana) we're almost completely useless against heavy armor. The only way you could do any damage was to stab in the gaps in their armor, which was better suited to the spear type weapons. (pikes, halberds and spears)
This is why despite popular belief, the majority of medieval armies consisted of spearmen, and not swordsmen. Spears were very effective against all armor types, while one handed swords were practically useless against anything other than light armor, not to mention they we're mostly only used by the nobility.
A katana could cut through plate mail? You've been watching too many cartoons. Besides a katana wasn't even the primary weapon of the Samurai, until the Edo period, the longbow was.
A Zweihander only weighed 4 pounds.and were lifted by huge men. Enough said
To further debunk the Japaneses medieval myths, Ninjas we're only assassins/spies and were not the legendary warriors they claim to of been, and therefore couldn't defeat 20 men. (gasp)
Seriously though. Stop getting your info from cartoons, and pick up a book.
lol kid, before you turn this thread into a comdy show. let me educate you alittle bit. apperantly you just did a 5 mins yahoo lesson from Wikipedia and come here act as if you understand anything about samruai or anything in history.(lol! your just copied quotes from wikipedia and pasted here)
First long bow was samurai's hourse combat weapon, and samurais are the few eliet soliders who take charge in fron fighting melee with kanata most of the time. second, kanata is not one handed. an ordanery samurai carries 3 swords, 1 is kanata, is a long two hander capable of anti calvery and infranty melee. 2, wakizashi for infranty combat(some still use kanata) and than tando for suicide. samurais were warriors fighting in fast pace melee all the time, unlike dopp just play as meat shield role on the battle feild. in experience, skill, speed, weaponary technology, they can't match a samurai in anyway.
Like king said, kanata is the most excellent engeeired and forged sword of all time. it has no problem THRUST through any mail or plate armor that european kinghts or dopp had that time. even without kanata, a smaruai still have 1000 way to kill a dopp. there;re numberous weapons that deals fatal damage to a plate/mail armor wearer - warhammer, flails, or any smashing weapon or slicer with heavy weight. sadly a plate/mail armor wearer will never able to hit someone like samurai. the only thing that a plate armor wearer good for is the first wave charge, or block calvery charge as a meat shield.
Obivously enough, you and other kids crying here just because the game developers also believed your 12 year old's fancy hollywood hero is no good against a samurai in reality.

Re: samurai vs. doppoler
Lol zweihander,it's useless to post here, when it comes japanese against european soldiers people who love samurai come with argument from anime. Katana is a curved cutting blade and NO WAY it can cut someone inside an european armor, yari could be able to do it. Longsword and zweihander are designed to be used against heavy armour even if there were many other weapons used more often like maces halberd etc.
Note japanese imported european armours because these were better on the battlefield. Samurai have always fighted against other samurai(or peasant who often kicked their ass with no problem), this is why they required help from european to modernize their armies who did lack experience. Europe countries have always been in war also against different country,ie muslim who use a curved blade like them. Note samurai has always been more a master with bow not sword. Yes prolly a samurai can easily win...if avoid hand to hand fight and use bow. Funny thing, european were surprised by ferocius american natives or by the fighting skill of the tenacious philippines indigenous (who later trashed samurai mercenaries used by spain and portugal when they were in war),but they never be surprised or amazed from samurai skill or sword...maybe more of their geisha

Obviously an explanation from an adult educated man, does not help patriots like u. this is not about us loving japan more, its about the facts. katanas were not curved. get that straight... they were made to pierce through ANY armor...and they did that when the europeans came to japan... its about the facts, not ur liking... just so u know i do not like or watch anime i have never been to japan i have no japanese friends or contacts i dont know anything about them besides history facts CHEERS

Wait WHAT? Since when have Generals thought "ok we need meat shields to tank the enemies hits while other players hit them." This isn't a game. Second, how would we be so sure that the katana is the best sword ever made, when really, there was very little European/Japanese fighting at all. Japan stayed isolated for a long time, then later ran out everyone who showed up wanting to trade, except for the Dutch in Nagasaki. (Don't ask me why.) It wasn't until later when the US showed up showing off their arms and technology, that Japan agreed to start opening up trade and get out into the world more.
Third, what do you mean his "12 year old hero?" When I was a kid, I heard waaaay more about Samurai than I ever did about Zweihandlers. Heck, I probably only first saw a zweihandler (not a real one, mind you, but one given praise in hollywood/pop culture) in Soul Calibur 2. Samurai, you hear about everywhere
I agree with him that, in reality, a zweihandler could probably take a Samurai. They had heavier armor, longer swords, were probably stronger BECAUSE of having to use the zweihandlers, and you can easily find a German and a Japanese guy and compare their size, and see that the German would have a huge advantage because of much better reach. The Samurai would find it difficult to get a hit in, and even then the heavy armor of the zweihandler could be an issue. Not to mention, it is true that spears were better fit for combating heavy armor. Therefore, don't you think that, since the zweihandler is IN an enviroment where this is true, his armor AND his sword would have to better adapt to be able to compete with the armors and weapons of spearmen? But anyways, in regards to the game:
You can go try it out yourself. If you ask me, I think it's pointless to say one or the other is better, because it's so close it might as well be called a tie. I did it just once, but there were only two Samurai's left standing, both of them only one hit or two away from death. The slightest change, such as the Dopple's AI attacking first, or even just some little placement issue that none of us can see, could totally change the outcome of that fight. That's why I say, they're even. At least, without their cards. Of course, the disagreements will go on as to which is better with all their upgrades. That's something that'll just have to be set up in an online match, if anyone REALLY wants the answer.
